  1. Gathering interest. Might start one if there is enough interest.

    Guys,

    Please make a new thread.

Our order was completed and closed.

I also suggest you guys to get a new quotes before garnering orders as the maker did comment that the last deal with me wasn't as profitable (required more precision job than he expected) and might readjust future prices.

    Mods,

    Please close this thread.

    Regards,

    Billy

  2. The added bacteria (if exist) can only survive on what is inside the tank. Meaning, their "food" source such as NH3, NO2. Theoretically, it is just a waste if you overdose (not according to tank size, but according to food available). Excess bacteria will die off and soon be consumed, causing nutrients spike and cloudy/green water etc.

It is not necessary to add bacteria in a mature tank as the "system" will balance itself, unless you are adding a huge amount of livestocks very suddenly.

  3. Hi bros/sis,

I am very curious if it is possible to have a air-con system that can double up as a chiller, eg. System 4 Air-Con : 3xA/C units & 1x Reef Tank.

Can this actually be done? if so then would be able to save space/cost if we are changing A/Cs for our houses :)

The average water temperature is usually 2-3 degrees celcius below room temperature. But its debatable if it is worth the power since we can't really measure it off hand.

  4. LOL I was selling at the exact same time you posted this. I must sell it before Nikon releases a full frame semi-pro with HD video and 24mp mah, once that is announced, everyone will dump the D700 and drive the resale price down :P. Anyway I'm an early adopter, so I've had one and a half years of fun with it

Besides the DX vs FX issue, the D90 image output is quite competent as compared to the D700 with the same 12.3mp, only that for obvious reasons, D700 images are super crisp and clean. And IMO the D90 is quite fun with the HD video mode. Can shoot movies with beautiful bokeh maciam Wong Kar Wai!

    Or D90 :D

Just bought it earlier at $1100. My advise? For a first time DSLR user, get second hand units unless you are going for the semi-pro or pro range of cameras. Digital tools depreciate very fast and every couple of years a new model is introduced to replace what you have, this is especially true for consumer range DSLRs. I bought an out of warranty third hand D70 a few years back for $500 to basically play around and learn, and sold it 18 months ago for $350. Imagine if I bought it at retail for $1.8k and sold it at a loss of $1450

I am more of a macro shooter :)

I sort of agree with your last sentence. I bought my D70s from CS for $700, sold it for $650 1.5 years later :P. I bought a SB800 for $480, sold it for $450. Both were bought and sold same time. I am considering selling my D300 set as well :)

  5. Great News!

    Maker just called me!

They are willing to give us $90 for orders minimum of 5 pieces instead of 10!!.

So we are likely to visit the maker this Saturday to finalized the sizes.

So those still considering, please decide by tomorrow and make payments (need to coordinate with bro stevenkoh how to do so.... haha) by this Friday!

so i'll pass the light to the scrubber maker once comfirm as they'll do the scrubber according to the light set

    Hi Steven,

I am still waiting for their reply. What I mentioned previously was proposed by me.

BTW, anyone know where we can purchase the PVC Unions that Santa used in his scrubber?

  8. Hi so u mean u already found the light set for 47 with light bulb replacement that's great i'll take 4set then cause each unit need two right

    1) Goondoo - 2 light set

    2) Steven koh - 4 light set

No lar, bro, as per SMS, that shop don't have replacement. :(

  9. Hi stevenkoh08 and bluesotong,

Just an update. I had call the maker and request for 5 piece for $90 instead of 10 pc. If they agree, maybe I'll take another piece and we go ahead with the order. I am pretty tied up this few days, won't be able to check out the light set. Maybe you guys can help check the price around your workplace/home for price and size?

Each light set should (may not be compulsory),

    1) hold 2 T5HO tubes,

    2) best if dark coloured plastic (looks better),

    3) electronic ballast (cooler and consume less electricity)

    4) allow us to replace the tubes to 2700K free or at a small price.

    5) below $47 (since the one I found is about $47)

    (please add as necessary)

Let's make an order of light set too to prevent miscommunication,

    1) Goondoo - 2 light set

  10. no way to view as we haven't comfirm order also as for the demension look at the thread of santa monica which i also link up

yes 90 is the whole thing which is the acylic

last it without lighting so we're still trying to find suitablee one or if u got any in mind can also tell us

What I did was I sent the pictures and drawings from Santa's forum to 5 makers. So far (after 1 week) only one replied with price. The price include only the box. Excluding the lights and PVC pipings. We are trying to get the same light sets so the size can be standardize. comparing the price from santa's forum, we are getting a pretty decent price. We will be doing this round of BO only. For future rounds, you guys can coordinate yourself base on the contacts above.
