  1. Hi,

Decided to let go my entire system due to NS commitments. The setup is a 3ft x 2ft x 2.5ft tank with cabinet, chiller, MH lights, T5 Lights, Skimmer, Pump, Sump and etc.

    Here are the specs:

150W Metal Halides (Mount on celing type)

Artica Chiller 1/2 horse (Can't remember the exact HP, maybe 1HP)

    Schuran Skimmer

    Aquabee 7000l pump & Jebao 10,000l pump.

    T5 retrofit 39W ATI Blue

    Liverocks (Easily more than 50kg)

Letting everything go at $500, you have to assist me to decomm the tank and arrange for your own transport. I live in CCK, contact me at 84883633 to deal. Thank you.

***There are 3 holes that are drilled wrongly on the back of the cabinet but no issue if it is facing the back.

    alvin.

  2. Hi

I got a little mix up between these 2..need some help from experts here.

Do they serve the same purpose?

Do fellow reefers use either one of them OR both at the same time?

    Damn noobie liao :paiseh:

    Thanks in advance

    hi, hope i can help.

CR is calcium reactor, it require carbon dioxide to burn the CR media and it will replenish calcium in to your tank so that you do not have to dose in manually using the powder or liquid form.

FR is fluidised reactor, reefers either use it to eliminate phosphate using phosphate remover media or it can be used to run activated carbon to absorb toxic

elements that are found in your water.

I would say that if your tank is packed with corals, a CR is a good to have equipment. both equipments served different purposes.

hope this helps although there are more detailed explainations.. :whistle

  3. I am quite surprised by the brightness a 2ft fixture can offer... to minimize dark areas, I lifted up the left side to achieve a wider coverage... I then tilted it slightly facing to the front to focus the light to the front portion of the tank... the effect is quite dramatic actually with more shaded crevices to add a sense of 3D to the rockscape.

Will settle for this... for the time being :)

By using this light fixture, I manage to bring down my power consumption from 136 kW (10 tubes/4ft) to 29 kW (4 tubes/2ft) per month... that's more than 3/4 reduction :eyebrow::eyebrow::eyebrow:

The next challenge is of course depends on how corals such as LPS and softies react to the lighting. Will be able to find out pretty soon :)

I hope I didn't disappoint you guys too much

  4. HI Bro Alvin,

I ad seen your 2 Ft tank and I admire it. I had been trying to set up a 2 ft tank liek you for the last 4 months and unsuccess. appreciate your can give me some guide:

    1) is there a Sump Tank filtration needed.

    2) any chiller and what size.

    3) can you give me more details of all the equipment installed.

    4) how much you spend on this initial 2 ft set up.

    thks/rgds.

    malvin mah

hi, i decommed this tank 1 year ago....upgraded to a bigger tank...

i try my best to ans your qns :

    1) yes, i am using a sump, overflow system

    2) yes, using resun CL 280

    3) my equipments, return pump(hailea 6540)

    skimmer, weipro 2011

    lightings 4xT5s HO

  5. Am thinking of running 2 returns each to a chiller ... the primary chiller will be set at 26.5 while the backup will be set at 27.5.. this could introduce redundancy to prevent a warm fish and coral soup for me at home when things goes wrong (touch wood)..

    any other idea?

i dont think this idea will work, if the electricity trips, both the chiller will not be working too..

  6. Sorry to say this but your bubble is dying sooner or later. Check all parameters like sg,kh, calcium Ph etc. But too late cos even if you got the parameters to the acceptable level, your bubble will be to weak to survive. I hope lesson learnt. You need too fully cycle your tank. Its okay for beginners at this stage but it will be good to learn and realise the mistakes early.

    Happy reefing :whistle

i suggest not to jump into a conclusion that fast. why not get souphamster to post a Full Tank Shot plus a close up of the bubble. Since there is no water parameters given, nothing is certain yet, it could be the position that is the problem, it could be due to high flow..alot of factors can contribute to why the bubble is not blooming.

  7. Is not the price problem. If people want to buy at $80 is up to them.

I did all this because this SPIDER KING attitude towards me in one of the post is very offensive. Basically he think he is 'SMART ALEX'.

Weeks ago when I tried to sell fishes, this SPIDER also came to talk 'kok'. Saying LSF selling cheaper.......

That's why I call him to go 'F' Spider. This is how 'SPIDER KING' came about.

    Want more Spiders????

heyy dude....what do you mean its not the price problem?...from the start of your post, you claim that you can buy another green prata for $30?...

even so bro storm did say something unpleasant or whatsover in another thread of yours, it dosent permit you the rights to do the same for his thread too...i remember you did spoil other threads even the thread starter didnt offend you at all..

anyway...many reefers here just cannt tolerate your attitude and crude remarks here, just leave and stop posting anymore. Make SRC a cleaner forum to surf in..

get a life for yourself ya... :nuke:
