I used to keep a school of 9 blue tangs and 9 yellow tangs in a 6 footer tank.
Even when the blue tangs are all 3 inches - 4 inches it, its still hard to spot them as the tank is simply too huge. For a six footer, you prob need 25 pieces of blue tangs b4 u can see them scooling. If that's what u want, get a super skimmer, preferably beckett or needlewheel (high end ones).

upgrading to 4 ft at least and all the filtration system in the cabinet. maybe installing a chiller too. I wonder how much is that... A shop willing to fix up the system for about 4 to 5 K.
It really depends on the equipments the shop is providing. Some people or in fact most people can be turn off by a 4-5k quotation, but they never ever question about the types of equipments given. they only see the difference in dollars between the shop that quoted 2k and the shop that quoted 5k.
Even a 2k budget is enuff to do a 4ft tank, but u will be getting kapok cabinet, 1-2 fans, weipro skimmer, rainbow pl lights tt sorta thing.
4k-5k sld be able to get you all the necessary equipments and make sure u do not have to upgrade in the near future.
