  1. Try switching on and off your lights repeatedly. It should close in shock. Else is to try touching it. It should close if not dead.
  2. Bro, don't worry too much. Most people use silversides bcos it the most easiest to prepare. Just cut your prawn or squid into long thin slices will do. Like wat bro FuEl said, just starve and feed. So long you don't release into main tank. Should be able to get it feeding. I only failed to wean 1 volitan lion based on my 4~5 attempts.
  3. Hi bro, cost also depends on the brand of the chiller. For 3ft, I would prefer chiller over drop in coil. Less hassle in terms of setup and (I think) should be cheaper too. But not as efficient and take longer cooling time than drop in coil. Depends on what you want actually.
  4. Drop in coil condenser (compressor): Like your home air-con. Can be installed further away and run the air-con pipe to the tank to cool down the water. Just imagine your tank is the fan coil, so you would have the air con trunking running to your tank. Thus wont feel so hot if it is installed in the kitchen or balcony. No feed pump needed. Higher horsepower, usually at least 1 HP. Recommended for bigger tank >3ft. Higher cost too due to higher horsepower but it is more efficient. Chiller: Feed pump needed thus the chiller should be nearer to the tank. Else you would need a larger pump and larger pump add more heat. As it is nearer to your tank. The surroundings would be hotter and noiser unless you installed it further away but normally ppl place it next to tank. Smaller horsepower, from 1/15, 1/10, 1/5, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 to largest 1 HP. My opinion. So smaller tank = chiller 3ft to 4ft or (maybe even 5ft but a bit tough)= chiller or drop in coil. Larger tank = Drop in coil
  5. They kanna "Guards Turnout" from you in the wee hours. You must be a damn #$%#$$# Duty Officer.. But well done.. Cheers. My experience with Sally Light Foot. I tried many ways to catch my Sally Light Foot after it grown to almost 3.5inch. End up had to used a metal rod to pierce through it while it is feeding on the sand bed.
  6. If u stay near Sheng Siong, they do sell a whole carton of 12 bottles 1.5L for ~$6
  7. By the way, collection near Siglap and the NPX Bioplastic is a 400ml pack for those interested.. Too bad, too far from my place.
  8. I once bought mine from wet market too. But the problem is the wet market seldom have them. I remember like I only saw 1 to 2 times out of my numerous visits.... Which market always have them??
  9. Stick many mirrors around the tank.. Will reduce the aggression a lot as the old birds will be busier with their images. I got those small square mirrors around 4inch by 4inch. Can't really remember where i bought them, maybe Daiso..
  10. Volitan lion fish is one of the easiest to wean to frozen food. Share with you my experience.. Starve them a few days (max 3 days but can be slightly longer depends on size), test feed with market prawn every day.. I punch a small hole (using needle, etc) in a small piece of market prawn and use a fishing line through it. Make a bend at the end of the fishing line such that it form a "L" at the end to prevent the prawn from falling off easily. Drop it in front of the LION and wiggle the prawn meat. If it does not eat, try again the next day. By day 4, still not eating market prawn, feed a live ghost shrimp to reduce its starvation. Day 5, the cycle starts again until day 8, still not eating market prawn then live ghost shrimp. Once it taken its first bite of the market prawn, you are almost 80% success.. Hope it helps.. Lastly, any fish that can fit into its mouth will potentially be its food. Thus choose the smallest you can find.. as it will grows fast... really fast. (same as yeo99 mention) No chiller needed
  11. Am using New Life but thinking to switch to Ocean Nutrition as it is cheaper. Care to share why u feel it is not as good. Many thanks..

  13. Another perspective, if travelling from outside along the wafer fab towards the farm at the T-junction. At T-junction, Turn Right >> Ah beng, Iwarna Turn Left >> Pinnacle
  14. Nice tank and the height is just nice to view while standing.. My tank is of this height too, just that maintenance will be a hassle. I would place 4 chairs around my 3 ft tank that i can hop around easily..
  15. Hi James, I think you are mistaken. babareef worry about the reduction in the pods numbers after harvesting the chaeto rather than the blooming pods.
  16. Hi Bro, I find refractometer is easier to read under natural light (at the window) than using our room fluorescent light. Best if there is sunlight directly shinning down on the prizm. Even easier to read.
  17. I think Anti chlorine is still needed as nowadays chloramine are added to tapwater too. Chloramine don't disspate like chlorine with overnight sitting. If you are overly concerned about bacteria dying, dose some bacteria.. Cheers..
  18. You have snails?? They may be small but very good in toppling corals but if it occurs everyday, then it might be some crabs or goby that live near the sun corals and don't like its position.
  19. If it is hard tube >> coco worm soft tube >> tube worm coco worm cost much more.. from $10 to $25..
  20. You are one of the reefer who I observe making one of the most changes to your tank. From reef tank > rescape > FOWLR > upgrade now. (Did i remember correctly??) Its like all within the year.. I wish I had the same energy as you for all these major changes to the tank.. Cheers..
