Actually you might want to consider getting more NSW per trip and storing the NSW in jerry cans with additional aeration. Preparing salt mix will need to store them (preferably) overnight too since normally we don't use the salt mix immediately after mixing, unless really urgent.

Hi bro, Actually the skimmate also depends on your bioload and the tunning of the skimmer. The skimmate you are getting could be due to low bioload and the skimmer tunned to watery skimmate. I don't have experience in the skimmers mentioned except Red Sea Prizm and MCE300. The Red Sea Prizm had the skimmate tend to have more debris accumulation at neck of the cup thus frequent cleaning would be good. I once upgraded to MCE300 but my skimmate is similarly watery. The advantage of MCE300 is probably the denser bubble foam that allow faster removal of nutrients and allows for larger bioload. I changed back to Prizm skimmer due to: My bioload is manageable by the Prizm skimmer. I prefer the slimmer design. I prefer the tinted skimmer cup as I don't like to see the dirty skimmate since we are running sumpless. I don't like the return of the MCE300. Lastly, I am using the surface attachment for Prizm which MCE300 does not come with. Cheers.. Currently upgraded to 3ft with other skimmer. But i still keep a Prizm Skimmer in store in case I need it for a quarantine tank.

Me too, used this yellow powder red slime remover, I think brand is UltraLife. Didn't research earlier and my skimmer cup over flows, luckily is in-sump model but still causes water splash in the interior of the cabinent. Even i tune to the lowest level, still overflows >> End up i go skimmerless for a week but add in air pump into my sump to oxygenate the water. After a week, water change and dose bacteria. However i lost my black clown a week after the water change, not sure if its related to the red slime remover. The clown had been with me for 1+ yrs. Rest of the life stock including corals all ok.

If I remembered correctly.. Gem tang is the most expensive tang. Gem tang and Conspic angel also command a few K.. But i have never seen a 10inch TANG before!! Maybe that's explains the price tag.

I used to have a purple goby that is twice the size of the bi-color dottyback and the same problem as yours. End up goby RIP.. Another way which i used for my tangs when i introduce new tang is to put mirror around the tank. Small 2inch square mirrors around the tank.

Unless the dottyback is the last fish that you put in after stock up. But then as iskay said, they are notorious for their aggressiveness.. There is still chance that they will disturb the other inhibitants once they settled down, unless all other fishes are much larger than the dottyback.

At Pinnacle today, I saw some anthias that look like alpha male Dispar but was told they are Purple Queen. The staff say the body shape more to Purple Queen.. Any one know what is those anthias at Pinnacle? Its in the 2nd or 3rd anthias tank when you walk in..
