Hi. Thanks for the detailed explanation. You have got very good point too. Would like to ask what is your total gallon in your aquarium including the sump? And is your aquarium fully stocked? Mind sharing more details like how often you need to maintain the skimmer or clean the cup? My tank size will be very similar to yours. Previously i was thinking of a tank size 72x30x30 but after careful consideration i think 30inch height is a little too high and harder for maintenance so now i am thinking either to change it to L72xW24xH24 or 84x24x24... .. or 72x30x24 or 84x30x24 hard to decide [emoji28][emoji28] Any input from sifu? Hi. I am planning to start a 6 x 2.5 x 2.5 tank. Total volume including the sump is about 1300litre / 340gallon. I know the Quantum 220 is rated for up to 2000litre but my question is will my tank do better in Quantum 300? I am thinking of long run healthy tank and not the initial costing. Thanks for the info! Apart from the power consumption and regular maintenance? Does modern skimmer come smaller in size to perform the same result? Coz my main concern is actually performance and space. If i am to discard the skimmer and get a new skimmer for the same size then most likely i will just use the current one to save cost. Hi all. I used to pick up marine reef hobby about 5-6 years ago and stopped for a while now. This protein skimmer i have is about 3feet in height and used for a 6x2.5x2.5 ... Now that i plan start the hobby again, just wanna check is this skimmer too old model for today standard? Has protein skimmer technology changed is recent years? I`m looking for 15amp timer but it's very hard to find in malaysia. U know where can i get it? But base on your calculation, a 13amp timer should be sufficient enough right?

Tried already bro. I`m using TheBen from germany..still same problem. I think it's because the timer is mean for 13amp standard appliances and not meant for Metal Halide. Trying to look for Timer for 15amp appliances. So far couldnt find any yet.

Hi All! I`m having this problem and hope someone can help me out. I`m using 2x 250w MH for my tank. The first time i install ikea timer for those MH after a few days the timer malfuction and the MH was on for 5 days. It was because so happen that time i was overseas. When i came back half of my corals was dead and the situation was really bad. At first my though was the ikea timer was a cheap 1 so i changed all the timer to a germany brand(couldn't remember the name now), It was working for a few days then malfuction again. But this time i was there to notice the fault. I`m thinking now could it be because the MH power output is too strong and it's imcompatible with the timer? Maybe the timer was meant for 13amp equipments only? Hope all the see foo out there can help me on this, and also recommend me a good timer brand in malaysia. Thanks a lot in advance!
