  1. hi leon after being somewhat in awe of your beautiful tank, I decided to place 5 hydra 64's over my new cade 1800. The signature series settings on the allumination site, look nothing like these settings. So how long have you been running the lights at these settings? where can I download these settings? and thanks for being an inspiration
  2. hi just wondering what flowrate you chose for the uv? thanks
  3. just curious why did you soak in vinegar?
  4. thanks leon I've been looking into the sulphur reactor as I have a couple of recirculating reactors that could be set up for the job. Your right the biopellets do deplete fairly quickly.
  5. page 5 your using seachem denitrate reactors, page 30 your installing a biopellet reactor and I think somewhere there was a pic where the apex was monitoring sulfur, which would imply a sulfur reactor. So what are you using ? which was better? I used a biopellet reactor for years which worked well so long as I checked for blockages , pump failure and medium level. If any of the fore mentioned occurred it set it back weeks to get it back to where it was.
  6. hi on page 34 you show your running rowaphos through the Nyos Torq, yet on page 36 you you show you are using a two little fishes reactor . so is there a reason for this?
  7. well it took a fair while to read the thread but it was well worth it, thankyou leon. your mythodical approach to husbandry shows what can be achieved if your repared to do the work and spend the money. i picked up heaps of great tips which i intend to use. thanks again john
  8. Im about to purchase my first clams, I have quarantined all my fish prior to placing them in the main tank. However with the clams I was going to give them a good visual inspection than place them in the main tank. My reasoning being it would be less stressful on the clams to acclimitise once to my main tank lighting, and they are less likely to carry itch than fish. Am i correct or should i quarantine them for 3 weeks as well.
  9. thanks for the replies, I may give the flame angel a miss
  10. I have 2 yellow tangs. I chose these as I thought they were reef safe and clam safe, does anyone house these with their clams? I was considering getting a coral beauty, a flame angle, a purple tang. what are peoples thoughts please. john
  11. thanks nakazoru, I read they chemically disolve the lime stone and attach that way. I take it thats what you meant by etch. I was unsure as to whether they also had a foot physically capable of boring into the rock, thus my concern with glass. john
  12. I read boring clams should be placed on rock, I have pvc foam sheeting on the bottom of my tank can I place it there. will it attach itself? can these or other clams damage the glass bottom of an aquarium? thanks john
