You are right with that statement.... I have acros that only encrust and refuse to grow vetically, some would churn out growth at incredible rates..... some jus simply refuse to grow and stay stagnant....... Majority of the acros have shown growth except for these 2.... pink staghorn and the purple monster...... On the positive side, have a Montipora digitata thats giving me growth rates ap to 2 times within a 6 weeks period.....

Hey reefers, Anyone here heard about this white band disease that affects acros??? How does it look like and whats the result of the colony affected by it??

Hmmm...... Was reading Anthony Calfos book...... he did mentioned how he actually got sick through palytoxin.... through wiping water off his face with a towel used from fragging these corals.... His lips and taste went dumb for a whole day....!!!! The coral is Polythoa......

Woonming, Calculate the total volume of your reef and sump..... your main reef of 3 by 3 by 2.5 should come close to 500 - 600 litres.... add the volume of your sump....... (should be another 150 - 200 litres) since you are going for a 3 footer.. factor in heat generated by PHs, pumps....coupled with MHs...... Then check the capacity the chiller can handle..... the differential temp ( the amount of temp change with regards to total volume of water)...eg... Teco RA680 (1/2 HP) can cool water up to 1200 liters by 5 C.... Just let you know that water temp can rise easily to 35C using MHs.... Heat generated by MH's very high......enough to leave burn marks on your skin if you would touch one accidentally during its operation....

Woonming, Do factor in the heat generated by MHs if you are going for such kind of lightings... Think 1/3 would be lacking for a reef that size.......

Hi guys, I would assume that Ushios are BLVs except Ushios have a additional electrode therefore it doesn't requires a Ignitor? ....... (Ushios are American made... right?) and most German made bulbs, BLVs, AB Aqualines, Radiums would require ignitors......

Well, there aren't many pieces left there when I arrived..... missed a green table millipora that was awesome to "someone" who got there earlier then me....... Well, lets hope that these excellent pieces gets into good hands.... should have plenty to trade frags with later with others interested and with ready reefs.....
