With a 2ft tank and cabinet, enough space below for mechanical, biological, chemical and refugium? Look like the chiller has to be placed outside the cabinet Or can the cabinet be customized to be 3-layers? That means, the water tank will be the top layer, filtration and refugium on the middle layer and the chiller on the bottom layer? I like the tank to be high enough (1.6m) since I am tall so as to make my viewing more comfortable

Hi there, Is it possible for setting up a marine tank (fishes + corals) for $2k? I thought of having the following: - a customized rimless tank (2 x 1.5 x 1.5) - a customized wooden cabinet (heard that chengai wood will not rot easily) - a chiller - sump and refugim tank below - pinwheel protein skimmer - LED lightings - other accessories (piping, LR and LS) Any other essential things required? Also, any great idea/layout of the the tank and cabinet design to share? thanks!

Hi Earthborne, I'm also thinking of starting reefing again, after a lapse of 3yrs - now that my children are older My previous tank was really a pathetic one - only 2ft IOS FOWLR tank. Have tried some corals, but failed as don't have proper equipments like good protein skimmer and chiller. This time round, I'm thinking of getting at least a 3ft with sump, good protein skimmer and chiller. Now, I'm looking around to see got good bargain or not and also waiting if any bonus for my mid-year

Thought of coming back to this hobby after MIA for 3yrs..esp. seeing all the nice fishes and corals.. heart itchy again My previous tank was a 2ft tank. I'm thinking of building a customized tank 3ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft. Is the dimension okay? Like a shallow tank so that I can just use T5 lights, instead of MH lights (saving electricity costs also) Anyone like to share their experience on shallow tank? Would like to know how shallow can it go?
