  3. Hi X Japan, Have just sent u a PM Reefgang
  4. Hi X Japan, This is the first time I have heard anyone keeping moorish idol for such a long time considering the difficulty in keeping these beautiful fishes. Are you keeping just one or a school of them? I believe luck plays an important part in the adaptability of the difficult species in a captive environment.... as what we consider as ideal water condition may still be far from what nature offers. Just my opinion, anyway. Reefgang
  5. RTN = Rapid Tissue Necrosis = Brown Jelly Disease Wiped out my pink plate anemone in a matter of hours. Similar thing happened to my elegance. Tried breaking the affected area but still couldn't save it. Never used Seachem Reef Dip though. Perhaps you should try it and let everyone know if it works. Good luck. Reefgang
  6. Hi AhTeck, "Ocean Planet" is at 28 Oxford Road, tel : 6294 6056 Have sent you a PM. Reefgang
  7. Hi nivlac, The specimens I had were greedily eating brine shrimp. So what I did was put the bs in the net and hold it near the surface. Of course initially all will run & hide. But when they smell food, some of the fishes will return & wait around the net to catch the floating bs. Some will even readily venture into the net to feed. The frenzy will make the angels take notice and soon they will join the pack. Call my angels bold or dumb, but I'm glad it worked for me, easily. If the fishes don't dare go near the net even with food in it then perhaps leave the net inside the tank for a day or two till they lose the fear of the element. At the same time continue to feed the fish by putting food into the net. Be very patient when the fish is in the net. Try to make sure you get it right the first time otherwise they will wise up.... at least for a while before they come back again. But I believe, even specimens of the same species behave differently. What I mean is that, no guarantee it will work for you but give it a try. Good luck hunting. Reefgang
  8. I have returned both lemon peel & flame back angel to the lfs. Lemon peel started biting the corals after a few days. So it was the first to go. As for flame back, it was behaving quite well for about five weeks b4 it started picking on the elegance coral. I had to make a desicion and reluctantly posted him out. I have never tried flame angel but many have told me that they are coral safe. But one of the guy at a lfs said that out of 100 flame angel he sells only one or two customers complain about their behaviour. For those who could not hold the temptations you could take a gamble with flame back's, "only". Reefgang
  9. Hi Newdamsel Can u elaborate how u wld acclimatize corals. What I do is put the bag of coral in the main tank for a while b4 picking a spot to anchor it. Have been adding corals over 2 years and I must say most survive with relative ease except perhaps a certain type of xenia - don't know the correct name - which died within 24hrs. But then again it could be a one off incident as I didn't experiment with the same type of coral again. Have ing said that, an assortment of corals dying at one go... i think that's serious. Bad luck for the buyer as well as the corals. Reefgang
  10. Anthias, to me, are the mostly colourful among communal fishes. How I wish they were as easy to keep as the damsels. I bought a group of anthias almost two years ago. Not sure what kind but they were the cheaper range which cost abt $3.00. They ate bs, flakes, shrimp meat & krille. However, over time some has perished mysteriosly with only one remaining. Unfortunately it has stopped eating - used to be a heavy eater - for the last six weeks. It's totally inactive and stays at the same rock all day. Don't understand what's keeping it alive. Surprisingly, it is not as thin as one would expect it to be considering the 6 weeks fasting period.... I mean really going without food 24/7. Wonder if it's turned nocturnal or hybernating.....hahahaha I have had reasonable success with this particular type of anthias considering the difficult reputation they come with. I think a lot has to do with how the anthias are being caught in the wild. But for those who want to give it a try, my advise is to buy in groups of 4 to 6 provided they feed on bs at LFS. Even then, it's a roll of the dice. Some have it good, some have it bad & others 50/50. Good luck. Reefgang
  11. Hi mv3i, Pretty nice tank u got there. Are the anthias eating well. I would love to have a whole tank full of anthias. Unfortunately it is easier said than done. Try placing the MH light higher from the tank's surface. That might give a better angle of projection. Reefgang
  12. Hi Hawkfish, Nice tank man. You shud b proud of it. Hope u can maintain the standard. Reefgang
  13. Norvin, U shud b able 2 find both Seachem R/builder & Salifert Test Kit at Sea Life. BTW I thought fr marine the kh shud read around 10-12deg. Reefgang
  14. May be it did eat a golf ball. Mine is quite thin, I mean the PBT of course. Reefgang
  15. [i shouldn't have bought it in the first place as it already looked quite listless at the LFS.. but the owner said no problem.. ] Man, temptation is one hard feeling to control... even for the well heeled. No matter how much one knows or how deep ones pocket is, luck still plays an important part. Not intended to anyone in particular... it's just my general view. I have kept PB under extremely appalling conditions and it survived for more than two years until my tank gave way. Couldn't replace a new tank in time and so many of my long time friend left to another world. My NO3, PO4 and everything else was no where near ideal condition and yet they survived. Some of them might want to blaze me for being irresponsible & not caring enuff fr the fishes. I guess I was lucky to have a good batch of tolerant fishes. BTW, I bought abt 9 fishes fm Reborn last week and all are doing well. Oh, forgot to add that all were damsels.. hahahaha. AT my condolences on the demise of yr AT (the fish) & PBT. Keep trying, you might get a "lucky" specimen. FYI I have tried 6 or 7 specimens of clown tang - or as some call it stripe surgeon - but only one survived for a long time growing from 2" to 7" b4 it died. Better luck next time to AT & rest of the gang. Reefgang "Reef is the World"
