  1. If u want to add new fishes and kill disease at the same time, then you can add either copper for ich or Prazipro for flukes. But you need to remove copper later if u go reef.
  2. Yup,some lessons that I learnt the hard way 1) MUST quarantine all fishes 2)Copper kills ICH (100%)
  3. My clown trigger is also not aggressive, my powder blue is more agressive than it. Make sure your tank is big enough as it can grow very big.
  4. If anybody seen a flame hawkfish anywhere, please gimme a shout ,thanks!
  5. I used Cupramine to rid of ich before, it works but need to test water for copper to ensure it is at the right amount. And have to remove all corals during treatment. Some fishes also do not tolerate copper well.

  8. Hi, I have dosed gradually till my current level at 20 ml,if your nitrate doesnt drop, you have to increase gradually.
  9. I have used AZ-NO3,it works but it is too expensive for such a small bottle($30 at 240ml),I have switched to a cheaper alternative, vodka ! Only $18+ for a 1000 ml bottle from duty free shops. It works,no problem holding NO3 at <1 to 5 with heavy feeding for more than 6 mths, needs a good skimmer though.Cheers.
  10. Hi, I think after 1 month,I see a drop in nitrates from 25+ to 10. I have been dosing for 5 months already, the NO3 is maintained at 5-10.You have to increase the dosage till it drops,it works but a good skimmer is needed though. You can search Reefcentral for more information. Cheers
  11. I am having good results with using vodka,NO3 5-10 for several months with 14 fishes(5 are big ones) and heavy feeding. Or you can try AZ-NO3,but that is more expensive than vodka. Denitrator will help too,but i havent go into that.
  12. If you struggling to pay for this hobby,i suggest you come back later when you are a working adult cos this hobby takes money. Well that's what i did after 10 years of waiting (i failed miserably 10 years ago, when i did not have budget)
  13. Hi Steven, Dont need to bother about addictives during cycling.Just keep testing for ammonia>nitrite>nitrate. Once nitrate is detected, you are ready to start stocking after a water change. After you have corals then you need to test for Calcium,KH,Magnesium & PH. Salifert is a good brand.Keep reading when you are new Cheers Andy

  15. Hi, I have been searching for more than 6 months, but I never see a flame hawkfish in LFS. Anyone wants to sell theirs or knows where it can be found, please let me know,Thanks! Andy
  16. Hiya, I need some chaeto to start off my refugium but I cant find it anywhere in LFS. If some of you have some chaeto to spare, doesnt matter what amount,I hope you can help me out here Thanks! Andy
  17. Hi bro, I was once in the same boat as you living with my parents and have to listen to their nagging about my marine tank. They disallowed me to buy a chiller as they said too expensive etc even though I said I will pay for the bills. In the end,I have to give up keeping a marine tank as all the livestock keep dying probably due to high temp and constant nagging. My dad told me when you have your own house you can keep a marine tank. Anyway I vowed to myself that when I have my own house,I will surely keep a marine tank and this time I will make sure I buy a chiller. That was more than 10 years ago,now I finally achieved my dream of having a marine tank in my own house. You may not be able to keep a marine tank now but one thing for sure, like me,when you have your own house,u can do whatever you want
  18. Hi, I know there are some colourful SPS that look nice but compared with the long flowing polyps that LPS has, which makes it look more alive than the small tiny polyps of SPS,I don’t see why SPS seems to be preferred,as I see always see those Tank of the month only stock SPS. I guess it’s their colours and challenge that makes them interesting. Anyway make mine LPS for now Andy
  19. Hi folks, I would like to know is a calcium reactor necessary if you are keeping only LPS,as I read that only SPS and clams need it. Please share with me how do you maintain your calcium levels if you don’t use a calcium reactor.Thanks. Andy
  20. Hi guys, I am wondering if anyone can help me.I am planning to set up a 4 ft marine reef tank after I move to my new house. Did you guys set it up by yourself or get a LFS to do it for you. I understand it is cheaper to setup by yourself but there many things you need to know, like the piping and the sump connection, which probably is hard to figure out from reading. So I decided to pay for a package, just need some recommendations from those who have engaged a LFS: 1)Which are the LFS that I can call, that offer a package to setup a marine tank for you?(I only find Jireh & Aquatic Support in the Sponsor Section) 2)How much did you pay for your package?(E.g 4 ft package) Thanks for your help Andy
