That scoly looks amazing

Yes, one of my fav lps.

Yes agree it looks nicer. Can check how long have u kept ur scoly, have heard they r quite difficult to keep. So i am quite reserved about getting one

I think the requirement is the same as keeping any meaty lps like prata, acan & brain. Moderate light and low flow. Regular feeding but I dun cos my tank nutrients quite high now. I read somewhere scolys dun do well in captive tank and no one hv kept it more than 2 yrs, dunno how true is that but that's a few yrs back. I got one for a yr but its has shrunk to very small compared to when I first got it. The other two doing fine, one is 3 mths and other one for 1 mth. The latest which is the one pictured above juz got it on Sunday.

Some more pic which I missed out,

Clavelina fusca

Finally managed to snap a pic of my black seahare. Not really eating my gha now. Shall give it another one to two wks see if it will.

Swee bro those Fiji Sps will really colour up well!

Thanks, bro but Fiji corals are a tough nut to crack.

love the colors in your tank bro!

Thanks for the nice words, bro.

A little update on my tank, my tank ran into a big problem during one of my WC a few wks ago, my return pump, eheim 1260, was unable to start bk cos I think the impeller was broke inside and I couldn't open it due to thick calcium deposit around the pump cover. Had used it for 6yrs and didn't do much cleaning & maintenance on it. Luckily managed to loan an eheim 1264 from a nice reefer Frd.

So took this opportunity to chg my return pump to Fluval Sea SP2 aquarium sump pump rated at 3600l/h and also upsized my chiller to Hailea HS-66A from HS-28A.

Pics of my pump and chiller:

Updates on new year day, 2015,

Trying out new salt, getting reef version but instead was delivered basic one instead. And was told agent no more bringing the reef version one. A bit disappointed but still carried on to try. Basically it's the finest salt I ever tried, fast dissolved too. In fact I only use my hands no powerheads used. No residues remained after stirring for a few mins. Very convenient. Cos I alw use a powerhead to aerate for a hr or so.

b211dd21183bf4a52fa989aa1627eebe.jpg

Also I'm trying this...for 2mths,

b3296b138c3941fb8317d4eebe5a18a2.jpg

Results gotten quite gd, however I still can't bring some of my sps from green to red. There's no potassium defiency though as my k is ard 400-410ppm.

Never grow big SSC, only brown out then color up then vice versa, on & on....

6253b4da4eb59c80db81f64b9891683f.jpg

Purple lochness grew a bit but still small size.

fc1d8319fac9274f85221303e9f6c8c2.jpg

Icy blue tip tenuis? Only one branch grew out towards my hydra52 direction. Coloration different from others.

This fellow which was dirty green teal color turn out to look like blue tip staghorn!!

Unknown lime green acro. Color up nicely!! No much growth though.

Austera?

Another hyacinthus getting brown to red color.

Neomeris annulata have receded but bubble altars starts to grow in force, it seems h2o2 can't get rid of these fellows.

Lastly a fts & a happy new year to all!!

Admiraltian,

I love how your wall of sps and corals are growing. Its amazing.

When did you switch to AI Hydra 52? How do you rate it compared to your previous lights?

I didn't know you hooked up your aquarium to a calcium reactor too! Do you see any huge difference to your coral growth for these 1.5 months? I'm still considering whether to go ahead with this in the new year.

Aquarium 3 - 250 liters with sump and refugium

Jebao DC 6000 pump with speed controller

Skimz skimmer

24th July of last yr. After of my sps started to grow faster but some still remained the same after using cr. but KH certainly more stable compared to dosing. No sudden drop in KH compared to when previously on 3 parts dosing. But it is quite subjective too as in what type of additives or chemicals u using for ur 3-parts, ca, kh & mg.

Try increasing the uv setting slowly and you might get better coloration.

I have already increased. Should I go higher? It's currently at 27%. I intend to ramp to 30% max.

If color turn out better I increase further. Thks for the tip, bro.
