mengyang_neo
Hi guys, Had been hearing a lot about people using chemical way to bring down nutrient by dosing a lot of thing into the tank. Personnel dun really like as I feel the method will reduce the nutrient to fast and might affect the coral. One will need to check the parameter and dose accordingly. Too much work. Next is intro to zeovit, the result is amazing as the colour of the sps is very nice. One of the amazing tank that use full zeovit and super nice is Steven tank. But the thing is need to dose quite a lot of stuff then need to have a reactor for the stone. The reactor is not cheap and also need to pump everyday and lastly reefdepot not carrying them anymore. The method I have used for a few years are liverock, skimmer, FR with Rowa and change water. Effective method but need time, result will be better as years passes. Only thing is Rowa is ex and used up fast also and my tank is pretty new less then 8 mth, being a gan chiong reefer, the colour of the sps is not always up to my expectation. Sorry for the long intro, last mth, my tank crash due to dosing pump give ways and kh drop till 3 lost half of the sps. Once I fix the dosing, forget to tune down, end up kh go up to 13. Lost another 30% and the rest most turn full brown. Big blow for me losing so many collector sps and suddenly reefing is not so great anymore. After talking a few reefer, solo77, sunny, Melvyn, mike and Honkit, decided to pick myself up. Was told about polylab, decided to give it a try. Reason is nothing to loss, all sps is brown. Got it from iwarna and get the Manuel from reefdepot site. Try the following. Fuel 500ml Genesis 50ml Acids 50ml Plus 50ml In 3 weeks, the result is shocking, colour appear on the tip of sps after 1 week and half of the body in 2 weeks and full colour in 3 weeks. Growing tip is observe and the water is super clear. But some sps is improving at a slower rate. Super happy and decided to share with the rest of the closer reefer and today share in the forum. Other then colour improvement, I have remove the Rowa FR also. Great saving as Rowa is quite ex and I can remove the fr pump which save electricity and also also remove one source of heat. But the con is have to turn off skimmer when dosing the acid and the coral food. Which I feel might reduce the lifespan of the skimmer pump. Other then that it is a good product and I recommend people to try it. All method have their pros and con and it is up to individual to decide what is best for them. I will like to thanks seet for bring in this amazing product. *I am not related to reefdepot or polylab, just sharing a product which I feel is very good. 2 Quote 5x2.5x1.5ft Rimless Dream Tank (06/03/12) Skimmer - Reefoctupus Return Pump - 1 x Eheim 1264, 1 x water blaster 7kWavemaker - 2 x mp40esChiller - Daikin compressor with coil drop inLighting - 4 x 80w T5 Pair 1(6hrs23/12/12),Pair 2(16/06/12312hrs 2 x 80w De-lighting Retrofit (1/3/12) -(15/11/12)6hrs and 2 x 80w De-lighting Retrofit (13/10/12) -6hrs) Reactor - Dosing pump (01/01/11)

Yes, i agreed it's a great product without all the hassle of daily "Pumping" of my old zeovit reactor For bac no need to off skimmer instead it need the skimmer to skim out the bad stuff. For amino acid and coral food, best to turn off the skimmer so that the coral can absorb the good stuff. weekdaywarrior
thanks for sharing your experience. looks like a very good product with excellent results only after 3 weeks. i am also very interested to try but the daily dosing is putting me off. do you think the weekly dosing would have produced the same result? Hmmm i think will have to ask seet from reefdepot. For me I feel for a start maybe daily dosage will be good, after you have your results then maybe can change to weekly to maintain it. After all my SPS colour up, I will try to dose weekly and see if it work. honkit
Thanks for the detailed experiences, Gary. Have your sps polyps lengthened? If they have, it's due to your dosing of amino acids (one of your bottles in the Polylab package). There's hardly any first hand accounts of using Polylab by reefers so your comments are appreciated. Personally, I firmly believe in carbon dosing (polylab, zeovit, fauna marin, etc) as the best method in lowering NO3 and PO4 and maintaining these low levels indefinitely. weekdaywarrior
Thanks to menyang_neo's promising results using the polyplab products i decided to try it as well. Im on the end of my fist week on monday, so far i still haven't seen any reduction on my phosphate level. Im hoping to get improved readings by the second week. I'm ot sure if my not turning off the skimmer is the reason though i think it's too early to make conclusions. By the way, anybody else noticed the difference in the dosing suggestion for the fuel on the downloadable data (pdf file) with that in the container itself? I wonder why the discrepany and which one is correct. Edit: prior to polyplab, i was using biodigest only (not the complete prodibio bacterria dosing line) and remember seeing results on the second week only so maybe that is how long it normaly takes for bacteria to populate the tank to make noticeable improvement.
