New partition tank set up

Hi guys,

I'm finally moving to a new place and in the midst of starting a new 3x2x2 full height partition tank with 3 sided view.

Can I check for those with partition tanks, I was told by the cabinet manufacturer that it is not recommended to have the top cabinet to be accessible (swing doors) both at the front and back. Is it true it will compromise the cabinet structure? If it is only accessible on 1 side, I foresee it will be nightmarish when I do tank maintenance such as cleaning the glass. I have seen some reefers' partition tank and a number only has access doors on one side.

Appreciate any advice on this.

Most top cabinet are just sitting on top of the tank thus not advisable to open both side.

However if you want to open both side, you need to build a solid frame and mount the frame onto your ceiling before adding the doors. But do not this will cost more.

I regretted not having done that when I build my tank in 2004.

Thanks for the advice! I will check with my supplier on building a proper frame before mounting doors which can be accessed from front and back.

I suppose you had issue for tank maintenance when you had the one-sided access door previously.

Yes, if you tank is more than 2ft wide and 2ft deep, it better to open from more side and with this its better to build another frame that secures the top of your tank cabinet to the ceiling.
