Are we talking about the same kind of compressor we have in the house? Can I get aircon guy to install ?

Yes, you can get a 1hp Aircon Compresor (ensure it is not a Inverter set), Titanium Coil, Temperature Probe, Controller and Contactor then get your Aircon guy to do it.

But do note not every Aircon guy is able to do it.

I did mine by buying every items personally and tell the Aircon guy what to do.

You can just contact Derrick through Iwarna, he is very experienced in this.

Is there a reason why inverter sets cannot be used? Also is it possible to hook up to a multi split aircon...ie system 3 or 4..therefore using only 1 compressor unit but replacing 1 fan coil with the titanium coil/controller option?

Cuz, it is currently not possible to control a Inverter unit using a external compressor and contactor (relay switch).

As for the other option, it is also not possible, but I cannot remember the reasons liao.

Thanks for advise... I found out that the reason is that inverter aircon uses a PWM to control the speed of the compressor motor and this is present in the fan coil ( blower unit), so without this, we cannot control the ON/OFF function of the compressor..ie with the external temperature controller unit/relay. Will have to stick to the conventional compressor. In theory the split system should work if we can control the valve allowing the gas to flow to the coils as well as turn on the compressor at the same time. This one have to ask the aircon installation people... Thanks once more.

so need to have 2 compressors at the aircon ledge? i dont like the idea of placing the huge compressor besides the tank.

That's where I placed mine, I too don't like the compressor next to my tank - the heat is terrible and will reduce the efficiency too.

That's why I needed a aircon contractor to help me install after I bought all parts. ;)

wah lao.. I dont know that.. :)

Yes, that's is why you either position your chiller to face the window to disssipate the heat.

Need to apply HDB license to do that

Don't need HDB license to install aircon unit. Unless you intend to hack down the entire wall or you intend to site your compresssor away from your designated aircon latch.

Yes, as long it is inside the flat,no license needed. Outside the flat, need permit.

If your flat already comes with an aircon ledge, you don't need a permit. If you flat does not comes with an ledge and you need to add an additional bracket to hold your compressor, your air-con contractor can do the necessary documentation.
