can't help but see this topic I am using pure LEDs and attached is the top down view of my tank. Unfortunately due to my pregnancy last yr, my tank fell to the side and I simply could not maintain it and I only got back to cleaning it up and taking care of it properly after I gave birth. Lost quite a number of very nice zoos due to the over growth of the Golden cloves. But surprisingly my SPS seem to be alright. My tank somehow seems to be able to bring out blue and purple colors and green. Case still pending for the Red sps I have. hahah

I call my chilli peper monits the towers of mordor :)

Using Ecolamp for this 4 footer tank.

Is that a reflection of 2 x T5 tubes in the picture?

Cheers,

James

Dun think she is using T5. More like LED. T5 would be something like bro kakani. One straight line. Sis one is dots dots & dots.

reef fish is right.. no T5.. all pure LED. :) not as much heat and my compressor doesn't have to work so hard. :) And in hot hot hot hhhooottt Singapore... it's a blessing to have both LED and compressor ... :)

Just sharing some shots here, in my relatively new tank (3month+ old), some sps color up but some do become paler. Heres a before & after shot of some sps which i own for around 2.5 months.

1.5months on Maxspect g2 170w, 1month on Razor.

You must be doing all the right things for the sps to respond well. What are your parameter levels (Mg, Ca and kH) to maintain the happy sps. Do you have a dosing pump or you do it manually? I just started sps and am weighing the merits of both. Do you dose other additives eg. amino acids? Thanks.

Hey thanks, I'm still trying to balance out my parameters. My parameters now are N03: 2ppm P04: 0-0.03ppm Ca: 420-430ppm Mg:1400ppm Kh:8 dkh Ph:8.2 I don't have a dosing pump and I manually dose my ca and kh to maintain at that level. I do dose grotech ABCM additives and this product do helps alot in sps PE. I feed reef nutrition oyster feast daily but only 1/2 teaspoon. I also do 8% wc with red sea coral pro salt weekly.
love the sunset milli.. got to get my hands on one to join my royal blue. hee hee hee.
Your royal blue milie looks really good!

I'm doing manual dosing too but find that the levels of Mg and kH fluctuate drastically and I have to regularly check the levels to prevent under- and over-dosing. I'm seriously considering the merits of a dosing pump for more consistency and ease of management.

first 2 months of my tank my kH can fluctuate up to 3 dkh (7 - 10) daily. i tested daily for my kh and ca to make sure its in accurate level. right now around 1dkh is consumed every 2 - 3 days. i seldom dose ca as it seems to be always stable at 420 - 440ppm.. as for mg its always at 1380 - 1410ppm.. i make sure i test at least 2 times a week on all my parameters.

haha.. I see. You are very hardworking

Get the dosing pump and you only need to check parameters once or twice a month.

cabinet no place to put both the pump and the bottles.. parents don't allow me to place them outside. so i can only manual dose.. no choice have to be more hard working!
