Hi bros,

I noticed there is very very minimal algae in my tank. Even after or during cycle not much algae.. Is that a good or bad thing? Cause i read that alot of ppl get hair alage or some kind of algae growing. I'm a bit worried.

If you don't have any livestock (especially fishes) or much phosphates eg. if you use distilled water for setup and water changes, and setup a phosphate reactor at the start, then you won't get much algae. If you use tap water, I'm sure you will have more algae since it contains some phosphates. Having a little algae is good though. When you introduce more and more livestock, you will definitely get more algae too.

I have few questions in mind, sorry for noob question. If phosphate reactor helps to export out phosphate in the water and hence reduce the chance of algae to appear so it's beneficial to start phosphate reactor during cycling period, right?

How about biopellet and skimmer? Is it beneficial to have these during cycling? Or better to have it after cycled?

How about light? I would think not having light during cycling will also helps preventing algae, but does it have effect on the bb development? Thanks

If algae were to be grown, so be it. But I rather it's coraline algae than the rest, if can be chosen.
But i'm still at early stage… Diatoms, Diatoms everywhere… Hope the next stage can be calm, and not come the difficult to clear greens….
