Any different between manual and digital

Hehe, good question;

No diff :)

Both showing 1.024

Of course, manual I am just guessing around 1.023 - 1.025.

Because, it is so small; my eyes are failing me :shock:

I used to use that digital refractometer but have now switched to manual. The digital one has error margin of plus minus 0.002 salinity, and after a year plus gets very inaccurate even after calibration. Using the same sample of water, I could get 1.056 as the first reading, then 1.042 then 1.036 before settling at 1.025

Got this from Kallang last year. Milwaukee OEM from them (according to that chatty guy at Kallang).

Recently, my room temperature has been jumping all over the place. Same water measures 1.026 at 29°C and 1.025 at 27°C on this thing, just watch that temperature when you switch on.

Agree; that's why I still need the manual one to counter check once a while.

So far; my Milwaukee match my manual refractometer; will do a counter check on my next water change.

Cheers!

Forgot to include this, I meant Hanna at Kallang.

http://shop.hannasingapore.com/refractometer/93/hi96822-seawater-analysis-salinity-digital-refractometer-portable

I think it is a bit more expensive than Milwaukee one.

What I meant to say was, salinity changes with temperature. This thing compensates for it, but I don't know how well it does that. And because of recent room temperature changes, short of cooling down the saltmix to match tank temperature, I messed up a few water changes.
