Cardinals will stop schooling once they reach to around 50cent coin size. If you want schooling, get around 8+ yellow tangs, or 5-6+ chromis, or anthias(I havent tried before), or 2+ firefish, and a few other fish. Most fishes will school if you add large enough populations unless theyre teretorial. Hope this helps :)

I have read a lot of anecdotal reports about chromis killing each other. That's why I have stayed off them. Hmm maybe a group of fire fish will be cute.

Ime chromis will eat each other when their population gets too small. Only 2 will remain eventually. For me the magic number has been 5 until they started chewing each others faces off

I agreed!

There should be much easier & better choice over the Molly.

I have also tried Chromis but it ended up with only 1 piece in the end .... Wonder why.

Fire Fish sounds good but what is a good number to form a School ?

Their availability is every now & then BUT who knows which LFS is able to supply a good number at one shot ?

You can acclimate a molly to saltwater but i dont see why you want to do that. There are so many nicer alternatives

Imagine a school of yellow or red sailfin molly swimming in your 4 ft tank... cheaper then most fishes and they feed on algae..
