Anyone can advise me? My Diy overflow piping seems noisy, can hear sucking air sound. I modified my piping to follow durso pipe, just that instead of down into the bottom, I install it thru the side of the tank.

Yea. I copy idea from there. Then use durso piping idea. Ended up jamed. Haha. Struck in between, I using 2 overflow pipe, normal overflow pipe with air hose to reduce air and complete siphon when water level too high, the backup overflow use to control the water level.

I think gate valve is better use and have to valve position had to be lower down. This pipe should be a full siphone with control rate via gate valve. There other two should be emergencies use

I only have 2 overflow pipe instead of 3. 1 is constantly in siphon mode with gate valve controlling the flow and noise. The other upturn pipe, I use it to control the level of the water incase the other overflow pipe got jam.

The noise is becos of air being suck in or water gush down as the pipe is not full. The outlet pipe to sump should be submerge in water, just below water level for ease of maintenance. By both end in water, no chance for air to end unless bubble from overflow. Yours is a ball valve not gate valve, gate valve is used for ease for fine adjustment.

Yes. Lower the sump pipe to below water level. Actually the noise is what noise? Air suck noise or water gushing noise? Having having enclose full siphone with regulated flow via valve should solve the problem. That just my view, no expert.

you doing it wrongly.

everyone thought you have 3 pipes for overflow, but the 3rd pipe furthest away is your return pipe am i right?

if this is so,

simple

with 2 overflow, do a herbie style. center pipe, full siphon without the air tube.

seal the air tube and adjust your valve till return pump is same as that full siphon pipe. this will be silence since it a full siphon without air

the other overflow pipe will be your emergency pipe in case of things stuck in the full siphon pipe.

so you just need to adjust till the middle pipe full siphon equal to your return speed and your emergency pipe is just there as emergency.

the emergency wont be doing anything.

if your valve is difficult to adjust to 100% full siphon with the returns , just adjust till it almost full siphon of the return and leave it, a bit of water flowing through your emergency wont make any sound.

cheers
