tofubox
Hi guys! So I returned from my short getaway trip and finally got about to rescaping the tank. The goal was to focus more on the staghorns and allow more room for growth such that it wont burn other neighbouring corals. Removed Blue tang, 3 wrasse and starry blenny too. Als removed the group of schooling longspine cardinals and replaced it with 6 blue eye anthias. Have switched over to HW marinemix and really liking it. PE is great Will still be on full zeovit and calcium reactor with no colour elements for now Took me about 6 hours to get it all done. I hope it looks better than before, do let me know what u think. Heres the last shot of the tank before rescaping: The re scape process: Quote I Love Stagsss

tofubox
Added my blue eye anthias today! Total of 9 Female, 1 Male. Now just praying I didn't overload the bioload. Guess finally achieved my dream of making a staghorn-anthias tank Heres some shots and a short video. Select 1080p if your internet allows it. Because the video has youtube stabilizer enhancer, which will blur the video if watched at low quality. Quote I Love Stagsss

tofubox
Hey guys, just a little update on the tank. Everythings going well. Haven't suffered any casualties at all since the rescape. Thank god for that. Sps are doing better than ever now. Colours are really coming out. I havent actually changed anything except my salt mix to HW marine mix. Also stopped using colour elements. Current maintenance regime: 1. Weekly one barrel of water change - Hw Marine mix left mixing overnight 2. Zeovit Spongepower - 4 drops every other day 3. Zeovit Zeobak - 4 drops twice a week 4. Zeovit Start3 - Morning and evening daily 0.5ml Not dosing any other additives or zeovit products at the moment, seems to be doing well. Perhaps quality of salt makes a difference. Lighting has remained the same: ATI Sunpower Front to back: Blue plus, Coral plus, Blue Plus, AB Special, Purple Plus, Blue plus, Coral plus, Blue plus. Switched on for 8 hrs all 8 bulbs, 10hrs 2x blue plus. Honestly, I want to try supplementing with led strips. But all the led strips out there are just too bloody expensive. Im a really poor reefer, so probably wont be supplementing leds anytime soon. Fish list: 1 Yellow Tang, 1 Flame Angel, 1 Diamondback Goby, 1 Longspine Cardinal, 1 Lemon meringue wrasse, 10 Lyretail Anthias (1 male, 9 Female), 2 Black ice clowns Also, just to share some pics my sister took on her iphone 6. These two pics were taken with default iphone 6 camera, no settings changed. Seems like the photo auto white balance! And heres some pics taken with my sumsung s3 using an app called "A better camera" which has white balance setting set to "cloudy daylight" FYI, I'm a total camera noob, don't own any fancy camera, or have any idea how to set anything. So my phone cam is my best friend. Will end of the post with some beautiful pictures of my trip to phuket. Spent a day at this beautiful place called Koh Ta Chai : Virgin Island. Didn't manage to take alot of photos, as I was enjoying the place more. Place is very local, with little tourist. Absolutely what I was looking for! Also managed to go snorkelling around, but no photos for that, had only my usual trusty sumsung s3. Already have my next trip planned! Surfing at karon beach (phuket) in june! Thanks for reading! tofubox
Finally decide to do something about my cyano problem. Cyano seems like a common problem with probiotic methods of reef keeping. The imbalance of carbon dosing with bacteria imbalance is a common mistake, I guess it is also a sign of me overdosing on some of my blue bottles. I had this issue since 2 months back, but didn't really pay attention to it. Finally decide to try out a product recommended to me. I used Chemi Clean, as recommended by a fellow reefer. As much as I dont believe in miracles happening overnight. I couldn't say the same for the above product. I dosed 10 spoons worth for my 125 gallon........Next day....cyano was all gone! My sps were still fine, livestocks were as lively as before....problem solved...... That said, I did however faced a painful time as my skimmer was overflowing like mad. So heres the downside.....u need to sit by ur skimmer and replace the skimmer cup everytime its full, and top up with fresh salt mix. I did this for a good 1.5hrs. Painful as it is....I am pleased with the results. Heres a shots of the tank after the treatment. And heres some updated shots taken today. I've also added a couple more stags to the tank, hopefully my dream of a staghorn tank will slowly become a reality. This fella is growing at an insane rate, colouration may not be at its best, but i love the shape of it. WS Birdnest Blue stag growing well Recently purchased this stag from bro EVO, its not in its best shape, hope to bring it back its glory WS Stag, I got this completely brown out, just to try my luck. I must say the colours are really starting to show. FTS! I am still actively looking for uncommon stags to be a great addition to the tank. If you have any, do pm me. Thanks!
