SRC Member Evolutionz Posted November 11, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted November 11, 2014 Hey fellas! some of you might know im actually downgrading my tank and this thread will be for my new tank. It's not a big downgrade, and to some extend its an upgrade as well. Here are the tank specs: Tank size : 90x45x45 10mm Front crystal with Bean animal C2C Overflow made by CRA. Sump tank : 60x40x45 6mm 2 compartment Skimmer : Skimz Mini DC SN123 Lighting : Maxspect Razor 160w 16k + 2x24w T5 Return pump : Jebao DC 9000 Chiller : Hailea HS-66a Substrate : CaribSea Fiji Pink 40lb Wavemaker : Jebao Rw-8 After i cleared my old tank, i borrowed a blue FGT tub from a friend and transferred some zoas, SPS as well as 2 fishes (mandarin & Bi-color blenny) and also some leftover live rocks over and so far its been a week and all corals and fishes are doing well. The LR will be used to seed my new dried rocks and will be placed in the sump. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07652_zps9ec9a1bc.jpg.html'> As i said above, i will be using only treated dried rocks for my display. A total of 12kg Tonga + Tonga-like rocks were purchased, soaked in bleach & Vinegar and sun-dried. These are the rocks http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/IMG_20141102_112143_zps756d74db.jpg.html'> http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/IMG_20141101_111522_zpse64f5e5b.jpg.html'> Bought this from AM with their current promotion! they will be used to scape my rocks. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07655_zps95f16827.jpg.html'> My inspiration comes from Mr Kang's reef tank from korea.. Simply love the overhanging and floating look and will attempt to do a similar rockwork, though i do not have access to such beautiful rocks of his.. Im currently scaping the rocks and will do updates as and when i can! Thanks for viewing! SRC Member Silentlurker Posted November 12, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted November 12, 2014 Wow nice. Another bean animal overflow from CRA. They getting a lot of request for this now I guess. Camping here to see the setup. One question on bean animal c2c overflow. Anyone done it on the width instead of length? Reason I'm asking is cos I plan to do a 4x2x1.5 and fit the width side on the wall as a living room partition with the overflow on the width closer to the wall. SRC Member Evolutionz Posted November 13, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 13, 2014 Update: Today is my final touch up on my rocks and its finally completed! First off, 3 base rocks were epxoyed and glued to create a stable base, 2 support branchy rocks were used to build up the foundation of the scape. You can see i used newspaper and masking tape to map out my tank so i am sure that the rock scape can fit. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07657_zpseebbeb0c.jpg.html'> Next, 4th base rock was added and i start to do the branching out part. It was really difficult from this point onwards. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07658_zpsbd33dada.jpg.html'> Next, Rocks and zip ties were used to support the branches that were hanging in the air, They were given 24 hours for the epoxy to dry and harden before i continue my work. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07661_zpsb9c44858.jpg.html'> A picture showing the base rocks, very stable and solid, Kind of an arc shape design that allows fishes to hide in. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07680_zps186af577.jpg.html'> Oh well, most part of the scape were completed the next day and i had forgotten to take a picture before i move on to attaching the tonga branches. So this was the almost completed scape. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07667_zpsd4342cd1.jpg.html'> Today i did the final touch up on the rocks. nothing much difference from the picture above but small tonga branches were added. http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07675_zpscfcd44d1.jpg.html'> http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07682_zpseb053308.jpg.html'> http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07685_zpsdaf2b04b.jpg.html'> http://s966.photobucket.com/user/kalthuslee/media/DSC07688_zpse9e7db90.jpg.html'> All in all, i spent a total of approx 7-8 hours scaping the rocks! 2.5 tubes of Aquapharm Epoxy, 1 tube of Bondite, 1 tube of Epo putty and 2 tubes of BSI Glue gel were used to complete this rock scape. The rock scape also consist of 4 base rocks, 5 main supporting rocks and 8-10 medium to small tonga branches. The scape measures 70x25x25cm and the overhanging portion hangs 20cm above ground. Overall, im quite happy with the scape and wished i had more time to hunt for more suitable and branchy rocks! Thats the end of my update today, and my tank will be arriving in 2 days time! Thanks for viewing! Quote EvolutionZ's Floating Reef: (Decommed) EvolutionZ's 4ft shallow Mixed Reef Build :
