The search for LED for my 2 FT tank

Just thought of sharing what I did recently for my tank.

I tried to find a cooler and lower wattage alternative for my 2 Ft tank.

<Main Aim>

  • < 48 watt
  • Blue 50% white 50%

Was poking around the internet and saw some quite affordable LED on EBAY.

<Specs>

Base: E27
Power: 5x3w 15W
Chips: 5pcs Bridgelux 3w led chip bead
Input Voltage: AC 85-265V
Beam Angle: 60 degree

Price is around 5.99 USD.

I know there are cheaper sources, but EBAY is quite convenient for me.

After 3 weeks, it arrived. Looks pretty decent.

Upon advice from fellow reefers, I bought a $7 E27 clamp for the bulb from Unicell at Sim Lim Square.

The clamp part is made of plastic, which is good as its really near the water.

The neck is chrome, which is pretty common.

As the bulb is 60 degree, the LED beams are straight and very direct to a spot in the tank. I doubt reflector would make any difference.

I might consider getting 3 clamp stand and point it down. Two blue at the side, white at the middle.

Total $ spend after conversion rate = $16.50 + $14 = $30.50

Depending on what you going to keep the light use may not be suitable

If fishes, common zoo, mushroom should be ok

Many other light demanding LS may not survive
