It been a long long time.

This is not a new tank haha but a revamp of my 422. If I remember correctly I didn't post any pic of my old setup. So this time round decided to update my tank progress here hehe.

Spend my new year weekend to revamp the tank really no joke not an easy task haha but still got salt mix so wanted to use it before change to other brand.

Let talk some history about my normal 422 tank.

Not sure what happen cny last where after I went back from my oversea trips my tank crash not sure what happen. So since the Abit discourage so just keep a few remaining fishes hehe.

Since then slowly getting all the stuff to revamp the tank but due to busy work sch the plan keep on postpone until one day I feel sorry for my tank hence decided to revamp it during new year.

Take out all LR is easy but remove sand really not easy. Drain and clean my 422 scrub until no tml because too many coralline algae. Fill up tank with DI/RO water take me almost 6 hour. But after all these it worth it haha.

Using Madpetz artificial lr and live set cycle for 4 day transfer all fishes in hehe (newbie please don't follow)

Thing start to get haywire when all water parameter Sui sui everything also zero then my lps start to died one by one. Guess too low nutrient. No matter how much I feed still like that. Then SPS also died one by one also not sure what happen.

Haha guess that about the history of my tank.

Let forget the pass haha now looking forward. Should I go for mixed reef or full sps haha.

Maybe as you mention, your tank is too "Clean" for the LPS . They need certain level of nitrate in order to do well, maybe now is time to switch to the " Dark Side" ?? <img src=" title="" src="https://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/uploads/emoticons/default_tongue.png">

What did you run in your system to keep your nutrient so low ?

Haha try the dark side a few time. Keep on grow from small frag to colony then died

nothing special that I run in this tank. PO4, Bio pellet, slimmer that serve me well and I guess really little fish only haha

  • 3 months later...

Some update of the tank.

Nothing much going on.

Just some silly mistake I did last month.

For the past few months I just do water change without checking my main tank salinity. One day when see my PBT got white spot then only found out that my salinity went up to 1.031. Lost a few fish and few sps.

Now abit Kiasu check salinity every week haha.

My tank was done by CRA.

For which one cheaper you need to ask around.

There are a lot master scaping out there.

A good refactometer is important too, recently I found out that my salinity has been too low at 1.022 after using a made in China one and comparing it with a new redsea refactometer.
