Torches place next to each other change colour

I was reading in some forum, they say if we put  2 corals touching each other eg green torch and golden torch  , eventually one will change its colour to be like the other  

any truth in this?

I have not encountered this though. If it changes colour, my take is due to the lighting and water parameters? Like the zooxanthelle(pardon the spelling error if any) adapting to the conditions?

Fresh fishes and inverts! What's next? To the salty side of marine of course!:)
