Weekly Update - 10th to 16th Oct 2016

Recommended Posts

Please do not buy any fishes from CF for now. Their last week Australian shipment especially wrasses located at front entrance on the left side few rows containing with corals without copper treatment are infected with WS. Almost ta-pow two wrasses from aunty until I noticed got WS upon closer inspection. Last year I bought an Alpha Labotei from them also at front entrance on left rows containing corals which also infected with flukes, after I done FW dipped at home & then noticed flukes fell off in FW. Buy at your own risk hor. But I think those back rows with only fishes should be Ok as I think back rows are probably treated presumably with copper medication.

PS: This infor only for benefit of all bro & sis who may not able to identify any diseases in their new purchase.

Good info to skip the coral tanks upfront.

I am quite sure the fish in the back row is not in copper treated tank. Reason, they are using UV system, if they use copper, They would kill all the fish.

CF will qt fishes before releasing for sales. The tanks in the front roll are not treated with copper for obvious reason. Even after treatment, no one can guarantee anything as fish death can have so many reasons. Not to dilute the topic and will apologise if I did.

CF has a systems in place to QT fishes before selling or exporting. I have bought many healthy fishes from there since I started this hobbies in early 2000+++. Aunty was working there since then and has been very helpful.

I was in CF last week and was impressed by their livestock quality. I don't think it is so bad as painted, in fact I will go CF to stock up some fish 1 months from now when I have my
Tank.

on this topic....there are some LFS didnt even QT the fish i.e. they receive their fishes in carton box and within the carton is package of fishes and they sell directly to customers without QT. Of course, this way is you got to DIY your own QT before releasing the fishes to the tank.

It's always responsibility of the buyer to quarantine new fishes. There are zero marine fish shops here that hold fish for a full month of quarantine (yes that is how long real quarantine takes) before selling, fish will end up being too expensive for the market here to accept. There also can be the best copper systems, uv systems put in place but if the fish already arrive with diseases from the supplier there is nothing much the importer can do. If you want to be safe, pay for the fish fully and have the shop hold the fish for a week. If there are any signs of whitespot/velvet it will show up by then and it's a measure that could end up saving your entire collection.

Always something more important than fish.
