Sohal Tang

Needs a lot of swimming space... In my opinion, at least 4 feet... Usually feeds readily and easily on pellets... However, it's aggressiveness leaves much to be desired...

I'm planning to keep it in a 6ft tank.. aggression is what I worry as I currently have quite a few tangs, purple, yellow, sailfin, blue & clown tang.

Mine is with me for almost 2 years. Eats anything. Pellets mysis Henry's gourmet seaweed, brine shrimp, even as I clean my glass, it feeds off the algae threads created by my mag cleaner

That's really good ! Is it hard to get it to feed at first ?

Yr challenge will be making sure yr purple n crown tang won't be too hostile to the sohal. My exp is crown tang is more aggressive than sohal. Being said all these, 6 ft tank is big. Good to set up qt area to allow yr sohal to settle down n get bigger size one.

Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow

Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector

Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262

FR : 2 X Deltec 509 & powered by AB2000

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

Ozonizer : Sander C50

UV : Corallife 6x

My purple is quite a big size tang, aggression the typical PT type quite aggressive, Clown tang wise I got a small one but even though it's the smallest among my tangs now it shows a very high level of aggression that even the other tangs will not mess with it... HAHAHAHAHAHA I was planning to get a huge stable sohal from another reefer or LFS. Any idea how much will a nice show size sohal cost ?

Honestly speaking I already stop myself getting expensive fish that always have risk of dying so I actually get a clown tang instead and it survive for 2 months already and it's beautiful substitute for sohai haha. Not aggressive with blue tang and yellow

Sohal tang is rather hardy. have been keeping sohal all these times and to me, a must have. Too bad the price went up but I think coral farm is still selling reasonably. Think they still have a few. For disease, I think apart from powder series, sohal, yellow, purple, etc tangs are generally disease free. Hope this helps.
