so far no leakages to my piping..... :D

rescaped my LRs about 4 times and still not satisfied...too few LRs already.currently there's nothing in my tank....only left with the following

1) 5 pieces of mushies

2) 1 X clown

3) 1 X coral band shrimp

4) 1 X ###### shrimp

everything died during the transaction to my new tank.so demoralised.but the good thing is, i can slowly stock up.gave my hammer to my bro-in-law coz i feel that it is suffering quite badly with poor lighting (2 X 36W PL)

my exams coming soon...so my tank has to be ugly for at least another mth...

now my priorities are

1) get more LRs and do a FINAL rescape(need at least 20kg of huge LRs)

2) get MH, decided to use 2 X 150W (20k).after testing and more testing, temperature remains around <29degreeC,using a single fan.when my hood comes will install another one

3) DIY aluminium stand for MH

4) still figuring out if i should get a tubby + kalk reactor or should i get a toyogo tub to modify a drip for top-up.most likely the latter, cos me on very tight budget.

5) get wooden planks to cover my side of the tank to make it look like a cabinet

bought these 2 holders($2 each) to help in rescaping...so much cheaper than using eggcrates + pipes...

after intense research, i've decided to use this fellow reefer's scaping as a guide.but i'll stack up both left and right side and leave the centre front portion as empty as possible...estimated, at least 20kg of LRs = at least $100....

MH = at least $200 (got a 2nd hand piece from fellow reefer)

wooden plank = most likely free coz fren is a contractor

yup...its a 5inch layer of grade 2-3 sand with a 5inch layer of grade 0 sand. it serves as a DSB....the water does not flow thru it,juz flows above....

IMHO, bro...... thickness is impt...... abt 6" should be enuff. but do u know u need more or less the equivalent surface area of dsb in ur main tank to be in ur sump for it to work??? ;)

Yup, DSB works by surface area. But having a small DSB better than no DSB i guess.

From what i remember, black colour means its turning anaerobic. But that doesn't mean its matured, the dentrification capabilities of the DSB may not be at its full potential yet.

saw u had a postal of buddhas above the tank. the buddhas won't be happy if they see dead fishes in your tank :P

yup...very true...

my dad and mom likes the height of the hood....it looks like buddas rising from the sea....wait till i complete everything, then i'll stock up....maybe not christmas, might me CNY already....

hmmm... ;)

this looks very familliar...

if i'm not wrong... its my tank!? :P

btw i'm tearing down my rocks and doing it again...

don't like the slope... its too steep to place corals like that...

wonder if its possible to stack high enough to cover overflow box but yet have a low gradient such that corals can still rest nicely on the slope...

all the best... ;)
