SRC Member kakak99 Posted February 21, 2018 SRC Member Share Posted February 21, 2018 My chaeto is dying, I suspect because I used vibrant. Anyone have same experience? Any advise? Previously my chaeto was very strong, healthy and growing well.
jon77877
Yup, my chaeto has the same reaction after dosing Vibrant. Best to wait 2-3 weeks after you stop dosing Vibrant, before introducing new chaeto to the system. For me personally, i also stopped carbon dosing within that period of about a month. Currently still observing as of now, but chaeto has stopped dying off after doing this. Have not seen any growth as of yet.

SRC Member kakak99 Posted February 22, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 22, 2018 Previously I dose vibrant for a period, during which I took out my chaeto. Then I stopped vibrant for 2 months then put back my chaeto and they start dying. Then I itchy finger dose a bit of vibrant again, but confirm less then recommended amount. Chaeto continue to die. After i starte adding vibrant it killed off the source of food for the cheato and it diedSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Vibrant is design with bacteria to kill algae, Chaeto is algae....The bacteria will stay in your system for while before it can be purge off... stop dosing doesn't means algae will grow again immediately.Do know that algae in your tank system also help to absorb the nutrients, and the idea is not to kill all those algae but rather manipulate the location where you want the algae to grow, that form the basic theory of ATS. Never overdose Vibrant (in fact I don't recommend using it) as it is really effective to kill algae, once all your algae gone too fast, suddenly your tank system don't have that buffer (algae) to help absorb nutrients and you will see a sudden NO3 and PO4 spike, than something nasty may happen, if you are lucky will be Cyano, bad luck will be Dinos which will take months even year to combat.Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

I tried vibrant to kill that. I took out my chaeto causing my whole system to go unbalance.. tired all mean finally manage to clear bryopsis. Many coral died. You are right, right now i have cyano dinos type algae in my main tank. I am trying to clear them while rebuilding my chaeto compartment in the sump.Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
sherman
Your nutrient for your chaeto are remove by your vibrant overdose. You can try to dose iron to compensate Quote 6.5 * 2 * 2 + 3.75 * 1.5 *1.5,(Decomn on 14/9/08) 4*2*2 + 2.5*1.25*1.25 (Decomn on 1/8/09) 5*2*2 (Fully LED light system, 140 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 2.5*2*2(Fully LED Light System,96 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 5*2.5*2(LED only) Eheim return 1 * pump 1 HP Daikin compressor with cooling coil 2 Jebao OW40, 1 ecotech MP40, 1X6085 Tunze wm, 1 CURVE 7 Skimmer 1 DIY 80 led control by Bluefish mini 1 radion XR30W G2, 2 Radion XR15G3 Sump area lite by 5 ft T5 , 6 * SSC 3 watt red LED for refugium 1 Full spectrum E27 led light 1 CR control by bubble count Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016 Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft [/quote]

mao ng
Dun dose something just to grow chaeto.. i dun advise that. Vibrant are use to kill all algae and thats the main cause. Once u stop it should be fine after a few weeks.Chaeto usually take awhile to gain footing.Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
