SRC Member Patrick Posted April 2, 2018 SRC Member Share Posted April 2, 2018 I have a nano tank just checked using API test kit nitrates is off the chart bright red! I'm going to use Red Sea nopox. Anyone used it before? How long does it take to bring nitrate down? What else can I do? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
RoyNeo
I am using Red Sea nopox, it is very effective but you should not rush it, you will do better if you lower the nitrates gradually...fish or coral wont die due to high nitrates overnight but they will if you lower it too quickly and sending them into shock. Thanks bro. My corals toadstool, GSP not opening think is due to high nitrates. Will start slow. RoyNeo
GSP can go days without opening...when I bought mine, it opened only 3days later. Just make sure you still see the purple part of it, and you will know it is still alive, lol
SRC Member Patrick Posted April 2, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 2, 2018 Thanks bro. I tried GSP many times but they disintegrated within weeks. Learnt that it could be due to nitrates. Got a test kit and indeed it was off the chart. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

sherman
Be careful . This water if not DI type has add mineral added. RoyNeo
Agree with Sherman's advices. I have water purifier too, but if you use a TDS meter, you will see it is not zero as minerals are added for our health benefit. Therefore, safest to buy from fish farm or get your own RO/DI unit from carousell.

SRC Member soggycookies Posted April 18, 2018 SRC Member Share Posted April 18, 2018 If you can accommodate a large refugium with ample macroalgae, that’s one of the best ways of nitrate export without water changes imo.
