Quick summary : Started marine hobby only about 3 weeks ago. Got chopped like a carrot head and paid almost $2k for a 2 feet nano with defective cabinet and tons of inferior stuff......expensive lesson.... lol im normally pretty cool, pretty hard to sell me anything. I Guessed it was because I wanted a marine tank since I was a kid. Kan Chiong, jumped off the cliff without any safety harness.........

After some “serious” poisoning and tons of reading and YouTube videos, I’m very convinced (self justification) about the limitations and flaws of my current tank. Since this is going to be my last serious hobby (self psycho), decided to bite the bullet. Going to decommission the 2ft.

Don’t know if im “lucky” or “unlucky”, I managed to get the last set of white Red Sea reefer 250. Next shipment is 1 1/2 months away. Special thanks to brother Kermit for accommodating my non-stop questions lol. Also brother Sherman for his experience sharing.

For this new set-up, decided to just make do with reasonable items (haven’t from loss from previous tank, total write-off).

Here are the items I have bought. Pics to follow when the tank arrives next week....all inputs and advice are greatly appreciated!

Hardware :

Bubble-Magus Curve A5

Teco 500 Chiller (used but very new)

SICCE 3.0 and 1.5

Carib Sea sand

Carib Sea (current tank)

Still looking for lights (outta stock for my preferred brand and model)

Let’s bring the poison to another level. We should start organising some mini LFS shopping tours soon. Any joiners? Lol

Updates :

Tank arriving on 16 April.....hopefully no more delays

Managed to secure a almost new AI Hydra 26 HD with mount for a really decent price

Now to find another light and wave maker.

Narrowed down to Maxspect gyre 230, any other recommendations?

You are considered lucky, at least you still have a wallet with a hole. Some reefers got to pawn their wallets

Good progress.

You can ask but sometime you may not know if the answer is right.

So you also need to read a lot.

So must have patience.

Take time to confirm before you part with your money

Some updates. Tank arrived on Monday sorry for the lousy pics. A brother here thought I was a guy wearing girls pants....fainted

Filled the tank up with old tank water and buckets....back breaking work.

Dont like the layout of the new sump. Not as functional. Heard that this is a new design “upgrade”. Aesthetics wise maybe, functional wise, it’s a “downgrade”. Lol

Old design, the skimmer is place on front left for easy access. Now it’s on top right. I think they increased the size of the ATO tank too. Good and bad. Bigger = less top ups but more crammed.

Don’t know if the ATO is working. The tubes are in the way. Very hard to access the left sump area
