SRC Member Jeebusai Posted April 27, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 27, 2018 Having some cyano problem. Likely contributed by a few factors. 1. Was trying to feed my yellow tang more as the Clarkii clown snatchedĀ 90% of the food. Also tried algae wafers (they loved it but stuck under the rocks) 2. Flow wasntĀ enough.Ā 3. Skimmer was overflowing. Was working well last few days. (Erratic) Used an old FW aquarium light for refugium. Apparently, the new Red Sea Reefers come equipped with refugium.Ā Bought a power backup for the wavemaker Incase of emergency. Going on a long holiday soon. Getting worried. LolĀ Time to buy some Chaeto tom! Some pics : Ā Ā

Octo is one of my favourite n mine grew too big for my 2 footer. They can't hv too strong flow cos may tear their tissues. My 'refugium' is so small that I am embarrassed to even show hahhhaa. I have it in a hang on filter compartment n use only a small led light 0.5W x 8pcs. If in sump refugium then u definitely need a stronger light. U need more experience bros to help u on thisĀ Ā
SRC Member Jeebusai Posted April 29, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 29, 2018 Thanks for the prompt reply sis. Actually, the octo has this issue when I bought it. Inexperienced lol. The funny thing Is 3 branches are thriving and 2 dying....been arranging them for the past week. All 3 no matter where I put also happy. On the 2 branches unhappy (total 5 branches)...hard to please. Can U post the light for the refugium? Mine is just as small. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very hard to control Salifert. Feedback from some bros here salifert not accurate. I turned off light for a day and seems a bit better. Have to clear the wool and clean skimmer daily. Very smelly sludge thingy. I think should be having a diatoms outbreak. Going to do a WC tom. Getting a RO/DI unit tomorrow. Currently using faucet filter.
