ramvenga85
Anyone using Teco TK500 chiller, hope can help me clear my doubts. I ve bought TK500 chiller about 1 month ago from C328. Set temperature to 27.5degC and chiller to kick in again when trmperature reaches 28.5degC. Currently it takes about 1.5hrs-2hrs to drop from 28.5degC to 27.5degC. Chiller restarts abt 5hrs-6hrs later. Can any1 confirm if this is normal operation for this chiller? Chiller serving 60 G tank with sump, total volume abt 80 G. Do i have to increase or decrease flow, temp set point? Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks! SRC Member Schwantz Posted April 29, 2018 SRC Member Share Posted April 29, 2018 Your chiller is undersized. I use a TECO 2000 for my 80 Gallon tank. But then again, my tank is in the balcony. Takes 25 minute to raise one degree.Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

ramvenga85
Have u calculated how long your chiller runs in 1 day? Estimating the cost of running the chiller. I think mine runs abt 5 to 6 hrs a day. Thanks.Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
SRC Member Schwantz Posted April 29, 2018 SRC Member Share Posted April 29, 2018 Oversized is not always a good thing. Some people are concerned with the rapid cooling and prefer something more gradual. Some are concerned with the extra noise a larger chiller produces. Sometimes space is a factor. I usually size my chiller to be able to handle at least twice my total water volume. I went for 4X because my balcony is warm.Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
