Hi,

I just upgraded my tank to 180L ios tank. 99*45*45 cm. I feel like my filter return pump is too slow because it has to pump through the chiller and posban reactor to tge tank. The tank is 3 feet high.

So it may not be filtering well enough.

My current pump is eheim compacton 1000.

Any advice on what I should use or is this enough?

Can i add one more and use double pump?

My ios chamber is around 9*20*45 cm.

Any advices or ideas are most welcome

Thanks..

If yrs is ISO, you need to measure the space available and then look out for options available. If your tank is 180L, you may want to go for 2000 to 2500 l/hr pump. This mean u have Abt 10 x water turn over within Yr tank. If u keeping sps, high exchange is good. For lps, you may not want to have high exchange due to high flow.

Calculate the volume of water, then determine the rates. So if your tank is 300L, if u use 3000l pump, u are getting ard 10x. For sps keeper, think they usually go above 10x, maybe can search thr as this was discussed in some threads. For lps, 10 or slightly below seems OK, depending on the flow.

Thanks.. my ios section is 8.5*20 cm. Otherwise i have to use a pump that works outside the water.

how about a mixed reef? I was also thinking of a 10x turnover, maybe place the lps n softies nearer to the bottom so it's not direct flow

I think 10x is good. If flow still strong, can divert the throw to reduce the effect
