Setting up FOWLR tank.

Hi guys,  I would want to set-up a FOWLR Tank, and eventually after years of keeping, sometimes in the future, goal is to keep items such as Angelfish, Wrasses,Tangs & Gobies. In  a 3 /4 to 5 feet tank. Please kindly advise me where I can start from at first

if you’re going with a fowlr setup, i suggest going as big as you can from the beginning since marine fish typically require more space than freshwater. also gets rid of the hassle of upgrading to a larger system in the future which is a tiring affair.

 

that said, i’d only do this is i have experience keeping fish to begin with(basic tank cycling, salinity etc). otherwise you could consider a smaller 2ft tank and keep species-specific livestock like Frogfish. easy and low-maintenance fowlr setup. just feed it meaty seafood once every 2 days.

Hi I just started bk my marine tank  again. Have keep many yr bk have forgotten what I have to look out  n what is the basic test kit I need to buy? Thx

For start and recommended ...pH, ammonia, po4 and no2 & no3 and measure salinity lvl and temperature. If you keeping coral, then kh, cal and mg. If just fowlr and want to save money, just cycle longer like abt a month, spend money on dosing good bacteria and monitor salinity. Buy cheap leather Rock w pods... Once Yr pods multiple... Then can slowly start with good invert. Then slowly proceed to livestock. If you want to fast.. Then the test kits are important to test the parameter but do note of still possible new tank syndrome. That means I need to buy leather  rock  n pods to run the water right? So the leather put in my main tank?
