SRC Member Evolutionz Posted October 3, 2020 Author SRC Member Share Posted October 3, 2020 Day 119. Tank is 4 months old! Tank is doing well but po4 shot up after i tried to pump up my skinny yellow tang! All the time while nitrate remained at 0, so there's some nutrients inbalance right now. Took apart the previous UAS led that blew and thermal glued the heatsink to the new LED, now its dissipating heat much better! 2 weeks worth of growth! Also dosing 2 ppm of nitrate daily right now in an attempt to raise nitrate in my tank. A couple new frags from Pinnacles, let's see how it colors up New clams! Rescued a dying sun coral from a fellow reefer, currently soaking in a cube of mysis for 30mins daily. Hopefully it will bounce back. SRC Member Evolutionz Posted November 30, 2020 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 30, 2020 Day 175 Its been almost 2 months since i updated this tank thread! Glad to see the forum's back to normal and my thread is opened! Its been a rocky past 2 months for the tank, battled a 'mini crash' where i lost quite a few SPS and inconsistent nutrients level. In summary, i started losing SPS and couldn't pin point it to a single source. I stopped dosing everything (except for my DIY Tropic Marin All-For-Reef solution) and started doing 10% water change every few days. Weeks gone by and the tank started to stablize again, I figured what could possibly caused the 'crash' was the a certain brand of bacteria i was dosing via a dosing pump (2ml a day), had gone bad and was dosing rotten bacteria. I guess this resulted in some sort of bacteria infection amongst the SPS. LPS, zoas and anemones are totally fine as well. At the same time, i was battling high phosphate (0.25ppm) and am still have relatively high phosphate right now (0.15ppm). I went for a FM ICP test last month to see if i could pin point what was going on in the tank. Some of the micro elements are depleted (surprisingly for such a young tank) and i have added TM K and A element into my AFR mix to address that. Another 2 elements of concern are Aluminium and Tin, i suspect they came from the Marinepure balls i had in my sump and had removed them. I will do another ICP test when the tank hit 1 year old to see how the elements have changed. SRC Member Evolutionz Posted November 30, 2020 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 30, 2020 Enough talking, I'll let the pictures do the talking next! Purple bonsai Red millie, one of the new frags i bought a month ago to 'test' water after things started stablizing. Miyagi tort, had lots of burnt tips and it turned totally brown, was surprised this didnt STN in the end. One of my favourite, a blue body red poylp acro, this took the crash surprisngly well and didn't change much. Not exactly sure what this is, got it for free from a friend and its coloring up really nicely. Purple nana perhaps? ever encrusting red stag, or rather, brown stag for now... Setosa, Fibre optic and a recent addition, red dragon. Some new additions from a week ago. Red millie Sunset millie Gold millie Top view of the SPS, as u can see, i've lost quite a few acros (including my SSC colony!). My blue maxima, grown quite a bit! Yeah i'm looking to stock this tank up with 1 or 2 more fishes but not in a hurry, things are finally stabilizing again so want to do thing slow! I do QT every single fish that goes into the system with a tiny 25L QT tank, i use copper power, praziquientel and metronidazole for medication. They will be medicated with copper at therapeutic level for a month. However, the naoko wrasse was bought from CF (IMO, this is the only place i will get my fish from if i don't QT, as they have industrial grade UV running throughout all their system) and since they are relatively sensitive to medication, i chose to QT without medication and released it into the display tank after 3 weeks or so. 1 Quote EvolutionZ's Floating Reef: (Decommed) EvolutionZ's 4ft shallow Mixed Reef Build :

That’s good to hear! Tbh I gotten fishes from CF most of the time but there’s once my tang got fluke and killed all my other fishes in my QT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Which is why QT is so so important.. there's no way any LFS/source can be 100% reef safe even if they claim they quarantine. I've seen heard way too many cases of reefers adding cheap fish directly into display tank without QT and end up wiping the whole tank full of more expensive fishes. 1 Quote EvolutionZ's Floating Reef: (Decommed) EvolutionZ's 4ft shallow Mixed Reef Build :

SRC Member Evolutionz Posted January 21, 2021 Author SRC Member Share Posted January 21, 2021 Day 227 Once again, nothing much's changed. Just more growth and better color! Some before and after pictures of some aussie acros! SSC before Now Deep blue tenuis before Now Ice fire echinata before Now, this took the longest to color up! Some random shots of the SPS in the tank. Golden Mille The guy on the left was a pink hyacinthus which turned green when my tank had a mini crash.. still waiting for it to turn back to pink! Another SSC and pink millepora And my all time favourite, purple bonsai Not forgetting my LPS/Zoas.. Also added a flame hawk after spending couple weeks in the QT. FTS Thats all for today's update. I do not have the Hydra 26s to compare to, but they do look identical spectrum wise. Fishes are also getting more expensive too! 1 Quote EvolutionZ's Floating Reef: (Decommed) EvolutionZ's 4ft shallow Mixed Reef Build :
