After 10 years of inactive saltwater aquarium and initial unsuccessful trials, finally it’s back to live again with much satisfying results!

Reason? Better equipment, world’s knowledge on reef and reef community... Thank You Reefers & Singapore Reef for the support!

It’s a marine reef trial aquarium aiming soft coral & LPS, so not a fancy one... but am happy that they are opening and saw some growth... setup as below :

1. Curved end tank L1000xW350xH550 (non custom, no overflow)
2. Modular In tank IOS sump compartment (L300xW80xH300)
3. Fulval 307 filter canister
4. Maxspect LED RSX 100
5. Wave Maker (small unit)
6. Refugium box (Chaeto+Algae Net+LED) - DIY
7. Hailea Chiller HS-28A

Am dosing following 1 time a week. Not sure if it’s good enough...
1. Reef Strontium
2. Reef Iodide
3. Reef Plus

My water perimeter is quite weird, give up trying to correct it since coral seem well.
1. Calcium 600-650ppm (too high)
2. KH maintaining at 10dKH (quite stable)
3. PH between 8.15 to 8.3 (stable)
4. NO3 above 40ppm (too high)
5. PO4 around 0.25ppn (stable)
6. Salinity 1.026(stable)

Trying to reduce bio load (remove fish) and waiting for Algae to populate. Still a trial tank... haha

Some new additions...
So excited so see orange/green Anemone splitting into two from 5cm small body. They have been moving toward the big white Anemone and staying very close. Wondering if it’s being stung that cause them to split or do they usually spilt at this size?

Making a journal on my restarted trial reef tank since Aug 2020. Never been that satisfied for 5 mths of setting up. All coral survived except for some fishes who disappeared ... Some new add on...

It’s been 3 mths since last update. Posting pic as my reefing journey. Seen noticeable growth in Duncan, Zoas, Mushroom, Hammerhead, Clove, gorgon and only some SPS like monti, valida, pocillo.

Red digi was growing well but since last month polyps been closing but not dead. Try few round radioactive bird nest and other sps but didn’t strive through. Guess this setup is not ready for majority of SPS. Nevertheless will keep the research and testing going.

Water perimeter has been maintained & stabilised within acceptable range for past 2 months. Currently trying to further reduce NO3 from 15 ppm.

Hi Gabriel, most of the coral is brought as a frag (small size at lesser price) from this community. It has grown since then. It’s good for testing the tank setup if it’s stable. You may be able to get a Hammer between the price of 25 to 50 depend on coloration and fast finger to secure it. Hope this helps.
