SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted March 2, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted March 2, 2021 As we finally gotten our own place, it’s also time to move on to a new tank. With all the experience learnt from the previous setup, we did our planning and decided for a 4ft tank. Full height this time round as we scare the light might affect our little ones. We did our research and chosen Reefing Reality as our tank maker as his pricing was most reasonable. We wanted aluminum profile as the base so that when water slip in, we can clean up the bottom. For the piping, we decided to get from TaoBao as we wanted some bright colors piping. Tank Setup as below: - 4ft 3 sided crystal glass- Aluminum profile as tank stand and wrapped by carpenter- Shadow Overflow Box (Bean Animal)- Clarisea Sk5000 Filter Roll- Nyos Skimmer 160- Maxspect Bio Media - Vectra M2 Return Pump - Maxspect Gyre wave maker After all the planning, first to deliver is the tank stand. Even before any renovation is started! After stand is delivered, Aircon piping off the compressor is next up. Finally after covid, the renovation carry on and the tank is delivered. In the mist of boxing up by the carpenters! Finally it’s some where done soon after a long wait! SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted March 2, 2021 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 2, 2021 Some of the requirements that we have from previous tank experience:Many power point with a dedicated MCB so when the power trip from the house, the tank power is not affected. Unless my building power trip, no choice le.The last 3 added by the electrician. All new wires laid from the db box to the tank.Ventilation hole and I DIY the fan to blow heat out.The base of the tank must be removable so when water spill in, I can remove to clean the bottom.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SRC Member R0B Posted March 27, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted March 27, 2021 What a great setup. Nice job. The ATS will make a great addition and will do a good job of controlling Nitrates and Phosphate. Could you describe the water flow in your sump? It looks like not all the water from the tank goes into the roller filter (i may be wrong. But that is interesting, possible way to keep some nutrientscin the water?) Plus cannot see how the ATS is plumbed in. Either way. Nice set up, great job. Keep the posts coming!! So the main downpipe goes into the roller. The secondary goes into the compartment and bring filter by the wool. The ATS plumbing yet to complete. Will take a picture and update again.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted April 7, 2021 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 7, 2021 A very sad news to update:I added a powder blue, a blue tang and 3 red eye Anthias! For first 3 days, all doing good and feeding well. Slowly, ich came. All the fishes still feeding well and fighting. After that, velvet came. RIP to my Hawaii cleaner wrasse, sunburst, blotchy. I not sure when can I get them back. Currently fighting for their life:- Purple Tang (5 years old)- Yellow Tang (5 years old)Both tang full body ich/velvet. Dont look good but still feeding. Body fully covered by ich/velvet. Hopefully able to pull through.Surprising, my golden nuggets are still ok. Keeping finger cross!Hopefully this will be over soon!Lesson Learnt: Always quarantine your fishes if possible.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted April 11, 2021 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 11, 2021 All my equipments are finally settled.- Added a 25W Aqua Uv after recommended by Leon. Think for few days before finally committing. No regrets to it. Although I dunno if it will be able to save my fishes but after installing, the Coral seems to flourish overnight. Below are the picture of my complete slump. Messy messy now!Customized a dosing container for my Komer dosing pump.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
