Lighthouse
Just got my Redsea Reefer 350 set-up yesterday. The return pump, a SICCE 4.0 Silent, was anything but silent. And the TECO TK1000...super noisy. The tank is located in the living room. Wife cannot take it. Asked me to give up and sell everything!! Anyone has the same experience with the SICCEE Silent? Any quiet return pumps to recommend? The Chiller, is ARCTICA a lot quieter? Help please....desperate! :)
SRC Member Schwantz Posted September 18, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted September 18, 2021 Chiller mostly all noisy. The most Quiet would be aircon compressor but even that will have a hum but at least it last for 15-20 min depending on tank volume.Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Lighthouse
How about chillers? Anything quieter than the Teco TK1000?Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
SRC Member Schwantz Posted September 18, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted September 18, 2021 How long does your TK1000 take to cool the water 1 degree? My compressor takes 17min for an outdoor 300L tank. The lesser the time, the lesser the noise and heat you have to put up with.Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
Lighthouse
About the same, about 20mins. For the Pump, I managed to exchange my SICCE 4.0 for the Tunze Silence Electronic Recirculation Pump 1073.05. Can hardly hear anything, even with ears near it! What a contrast! SRC Member mhcraft Posted September 18, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted September 18, 2021 Yea not sure if you can do anything about the chiller. From what i was told, Teco or Arctica is already pretty good and quiet ones
SRC Member Winnard Posted September 18, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted September 18, 2021 Condenser with a titanium coil will remove the noise. If not possible, you can try to use a higher rate chiller so that noise time will be lesserSent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
Lighthouse
Thanks for your helpful comments. I was advised to use an Arctica 1/5. Supplier seem to recognize noise level issues. Seems like the 1/4 hp range are noisier. Crossing my fingers! But yes, most people I speak to at LFS says it's something they all contend with especially with their better halves! SRC Member Schwantz Posted September 19, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted September 19, 2021 Anything less than 1hp is going to be struggling to cool down that tank volume. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
