Hi All,

i have a 2nd hand TK2000 for my 4.5ft tank (about 750 liters including sump).

It takes about 2 hours continuous running to drop the temp from 27.8Celsius to 27.0.

Is it too long or normal?

Chiller is in tank cabinet but the back of the tank cabinet is open and the tank is 1feet away from wall. so i don't think it is ventilation issue.

Hope someone can share their TECO experience.

My experience with TK1000 on 350L tank is it takes around 45-55min to chill one degree.

Factors that can affect the time :
1. How much light and heat being introduced in tank.
2. Ventilation of chiller.
3. Flow through the chiller.

Try increasing flow and see how.

I switched to Compressor and my cooling time reduced to 17min. Best decision I made.

Any brand will do but must be non-inverter.
You can get a 1hp power.
With budget constraints can go for used ~sgd500 with drop in coil.
New one would be around SGD800++ just the compressor exclude drop in coil and installation charges

Hi Bro, keen in the compressor and drop in coil also. Do you have any contacts that you can direct me to?

Thanks

Where would you put the compressor in the living room? Next to the tank?
Ideally outdoor where your house Aircon unit are..

compressor chiller is basically using Aircon compressor modified for water chilling, which is much effective since the compressor is larger and coil is in direct contact with tank water but the drawback is it is not easy to setup yourself and you need to run those coil like your Aircon coil and the compressor is big.

Best is to talk to the Aircon compressor guy to advise you better.

Per my experience it is better to go drop in coil when your total water volume is >500L. Chiller takes too long to drop the temperature ever for the highest power rating type for home aquarium.
For chiller, make sure the hot air is not back flow to your intake air inlet, else it will not get cold quickly. So it is a good idea to blow the hot air away using an extra fan if you have this concern.
Water flow speed for small chiller is using 1000L/hr pump, bigger chiller needs 2000L/hr pump.

Hope this helps

Share my TK2000 efficiency, take 45mins to drop 1°C. I guess my setup produces quite a lot of heat, only take 75mins to increase 1°C.

Tank size: 400L

Setting: 26-27°C

Chiller Pump: 1262

Previous I used TK1000, it take 100mins to cool 1°C…. Dunno how is the Arctica chiller performance.
