BKDee
Hi, My tank maker has just delivered my custom tank and solid wood cabinet to me. It’s a 150x75x60. What can I do to fix this 3mm gap on the right side of the tank? The tank maker is asking me to add another 1cm foam on top of the 1cm black foam I have. Anyone have experience whether that will be safe? I’m really worried the tank will crack in long run. I read mixed suggestions from other reef forum. Some asks to add another plywood on top and add shims in between the wood and the stand surface… Any other easier DIY suggestions?
SRC Member Schwantz Posted October 12, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted October 12, 2021 Since you bought both the tank and cabinet from them, ask them to sort it out.Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
SRC Member Simon Lim Posted October 12, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted October 12, 2021 I totally agree. Since the tank & stand was custom made, get them to resolve for you Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
SRC Member DottyClown Posted October 12, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted October 12, 2021 (edited) The tank maker has a responsibility to solve this issue. Regardless if they made both tank and cabinet, or if cabinet/tank was outsourced to another party. Do you know if this is due to uneven cabinet top or badly constructed tank? If tank, then should reject. Edited October 12, 2021 by DottyClown
finbir
Fix the problem or no payment. One of my nephews did n they'd to get it done. No decent shop will do such a sloppy job and dare to deliver it. Finbir.
SRC Member rarf Posted October 24, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted October 24, 2021 it seems to be a much bigger issue than just a 3mm gap since it’s already on black foam and still showing that much. and as dottyclown said, if it’s a tank (and not stand) issue, it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
