welcome,

i wud highly suggest u dont put yer tank on a computer table... 3 ft tank would be damn heavy, especially with the rocks sand and all..

very soon u will see yer table warping in the centre before finally giving way.. unless the tables made of chengai wood or such.

what are u intending to keep?

You need to calculate the water volume, weight of the sand and live rock that you going to put into the tank. Take the total weight and from there, you have to guage if your office table can take the weight.

eg for a 3ft x 1.5ft x 2ft, volume will be about 240 litres. That is if u fill to the brim but if include the sand and rocks, should be about this weight. 240 litres is about 240kg. Hopefully my conversion is correct. All these are rough calculations only...

Not sure if an office table can take the weight of 240kg.

IMHO, if space is not a constrain, go for the 3ft if you can. With 2ft, there are more limitations as to what LS you can put in. I am running a 2ft myself due to space constrain at home and would really really love to upgrade to a 3ft.. but... .

Also, 3ft will give you more water volume so if water quality were to drop, you will have slightly more buffer and time to rectify compared to a 2ft. Having a tank crash and all LS wipe out can be quite heart wrenching...I believe alot of bros have experienced that before.

space is not a problem for me. but there are reefer that suggest that i don't put a 3ft on my comp desk because it may not be able to support it.

ya. i agree it will be heart wrenching to see your tank crash. as there are all your favourite ls, zoos and corals etc inside.

It will be best for u to get a tank and cabinet together. In that case, you can be sure that the support wun give way. If you do not wish to use a sump, can use the cabinet to store all your fish stuff.
