bukitimah
If no UPS and there is a power shut down. How long can the fish last? What can be done to prolong their life?
SRC Member Sapp Posted August 12, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted August 12, 2006 2 to 4 hours should be ok. Have heard before that power was out for 8 hours and the fishes were still ok. You might want to get a battery operated air pump to keep the water aerated.
SRC Member zurc Posted August 12, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted August 12, 2006 i think it will depend on the quality of your water and the size of your tank... if you have a small tank and your water parameters doesn't read well, then it's going to deteriorate fast... you might loose the less hardy LS... a water change every hour might help... i think... SRC Member arcanehacker Posted August 13, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted August 13, 2006 very subjective. Mine lasted more than 8 hrs. Someone accidentaly off the main switch in the morning. I got back in the evening then found out. That time I had 3 anthias, 2 tangs, royal gramma, 2 true clowns, mandarin goby, leopard wrasse, fire goby, golden sleeperhead goby, few rocks of yumas, ricordia, 3 harlequin shrimps, goniopora, seafan. Can't say anything about other more sensitive fishes or corals though. Quote Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth? bukitimah
Mabe blow air through a tube every 10 mins? Yeah, better get a battery operated air pump on standby.
