Im using 3/4 Hp for my 4x2.5x2 Sps tank with 3nos 250w Mh.

Start to kick-in every 5hrs without light and 2-3hrs during photo period.

Good economical chiller with reliable service.

What the running hrs like when ur MH is on?

Using the 3/4 hp with the fan direction blowing outwards instead of ###### into the casing to cool the coils. Cooling my 5 x 2 x 2.5 ft tank with ease. Runs abt 2.5 - 3 hrs and cuts in again abt 7hrs or more later.

:yeah:

All Arctica Fans u can start throwing away ur Arctica chiller as ur chiller will never be able to rest 7hrs before it start to kick in again. ;)

U rate a chiller by the running time ( how fast it can chiller down ) and not how long it takes to kicks in .

Tank temp goes up depends on the other equipments running in the tank that provided the heat load and the weather plays an important part too.

A tank in an aircorn room with a room temp of 24deg , the tank temp should be around + 1 to 2deg. Normal room temp in hdb is 30 deg in the day time it will take about 1hr or more to go up 1 deg (depends on what is yr tank size n the equipments use)

A 1/2HP chiller will take not more than an hr to chill 500L of water and takes another 1 and 1/2hr before it kicks in again.

The best is to run every 1000L of water to 1HP so make ur own caculation . Example 1500L will use a 1.5HP chiller.

If 1/2 HP chiller runing amp is 3.6 take about 1hr to chill down 1deg , 1 1/2 hr to start up.

1amp = 220w

3.6amp = 792w

1 day run 10hr = 10 X 792w = 7920w

1000w = $0.21 in PUB bill

7920w = $1.67 a day

31day = $51.77

So the faster u chill down the tank the more u save

Please list down the tank spec for those who use the wonderfull chiller so people can have a better idea when buying chiller.

......yap thats right, my 3/4 HP pac runs 2.5 - 3 hrs and kicks in again abt 7hrs(lights on) or more later(lights OFF). Tank size 5 x 2x 2.5 and sump of abt 4 x 1 x 1. The tank is located just before the balcony and quite breezy and bright. Presently using 4 x 5ft T5 with ATI and Aqua science tubes. Used to hv 2 x 150watt MH with abt the same run and kick in time. Temperature setting from 24 - 27 celsius. 5 pumps in the sump with total wattage of 200+.
