Achilles Tang
Spidey, do you think you are ready to commit to taking care of a dog? Their needs are far more than a tank and the first few months can be very trying as you need to be patient, loving while learning to spend time disciplining, bonding, teaching etc. After that, it'll be with you for years... counting on you as master of its life. SRC Member cityofangels Posted September 25, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted September 25, 2006 I totally agree with AT. You want to find a puppy as young as possible and trained as well? That's like trying to find an AT for $20 and eating readily. In other words, it's highly impossible. Anywhere i can go beside those crazy adoption places that want to visit you every week and insist you bring your whole damn family down for interview b4 they let u have it ? If you think that the above is troublesome, seriously.. I don't think you're ready to keep a dog. Although the price of the dog may be low, there are other costs as well.. Yearly vaccinations, trips to the vet, food etc.. A chihuahua is likely to live for 12-15 years and some may even consider it as a yappy breed. I don't know whether you've considered all that. On the whole, Chihuahuas aren't that easy to train too. Trust me, my aunt has 3 of them and I help her train them.
jamomatt
If you want trained etc, You will need to look for 1 at least 6 months or older. Anything before that the puppy does not have the ability to control their bladder yet and will wake you up in the middle of the nite cos it wants to poo/pee. It will also need constant company at that young age and will make alot of noise if ever left alone (for almost all but the most independant of species). It is a nightmare taking care of puppies before the age of 6 months, you can ask your dog owner friends. Adoption may be troublesome, but these dogs are usually older and at least toilet trained by the home usually.
SRC Member Sapp Posted September 25, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted September 25, 2006 Puppies that are 6mths or younger behaves like a 1~2 year old baby. So if you wanna know how it will be like taking care of them, just ask any of your frens that have newborn babies.... The level of care and commitment is about the same IMHO.
