BulkHead Leading from return into Tank Leaked!

Hey guys. I Have a rather complecated problem over here in my new tank.I have 2 holes drilled in the back of the tank and they are used for returns. The problem here is that one of the return via an ehiem 1264 is producing small rapid drips down from the bulkhead itself which is the screw-on type ( 1 in the inside, the other on the outside) . before i screw it on to the tank, i have added 2 rubber washers(1 in the inside, the other on the outside) and screwed tightly on , But the problem is that it still drips behind my tank.

I've Tried silicon , it stopped for a day but started again today with slower drips.

Any inputs solving my problem will be much apperciated

Hi Bro,

You need to ensure that the bulkhead is a tight fit into the hole. If it is not, you will have leakage problem especially when using it with high flow pump like Eheim 1264. Double check to see if you can fit the hole with a bigger bulkhead and use it instead.

As for silicon, it should create a strong bond if the bulkhead is right size fitting, but you have to cure it for at least 24-72 hours. I would suggest 72 hours in your case.

Oh, ic, i cure it for just 6hrs... Yes bro, the bulkhead is the largest for my hole..

But the problem is that my thinking is , if there is a leak, u use silicon, the water will try to seap through the silicon and resulting in a pouch of water (something like blister on your fingers) and once there is a hole in the silicon , there it goes leaking again , isit true?

Happy new year. The bulk head should not need to silicon out on the outside. If you just silicon on the inside will provide a very secure seal, but must cure for at least 24 hrs.

Oh man, Dumb me , didnt think of it , So the problem lies with the placement of the silicon.

I will try that again, so since its the outside silicion that leaks, should isit better to leave it there or blade it off? (the outer silicon as seen in pic)

Learnt : Silicon on the inside

: Cure for 72 hrs
