wah lau eh,

just got a Sand Shifter star fish yesterday,

moments after i put it into my tank,

my hermit crabs started charging towards it and nips off the 5 tips of its legs :pinch:

I thought only Harelquin is interested in dinning star fishes,

how come my orange Hermit also like star fish?

any gurus out there can share some light into this incident?

thats exactly what i thought,

but my star fish bloody bodoh and slow mo,

and my Hermit bloody greedy and fast,

hopefully the star fish grows smarter already,

otherwise day by day its losing bits of itself

:( sigh ....

:P

ah, off the lights before i introduce new stuff into the tank, eh?

thought i read there somewhere.

But its too late now,

20% of my star fish is being nipped off by my 3 Hermit crabs.

Had transferred it. :)

I might try to re-introduce it into my tank sometime later,

under the "covert" situation,

but rather worried what if the Hermits whack it again. :(

Should i re-introduce it again or get another bigger Sand Shifter star fish ?

there might not be enough foodstuff for your hermits or you simlpy have too much hermits.....

hermits in the wild hides all the time and only come out at night to feed...its part of their natural instinct....they only comes out in the day if they are REALLY hungry..maybe you should talk out some of the hermits to reduce the population or inrease feeding....:D
