Aiptasia problem? - MUST READ!

Natural Aiptasia control is the goal of most reef keepers. Aiptasia species anemones are imported from around the world on maricultured coral plugs and live rocks as well as traded between tanks on macro algaes and at frag swaps. Aiptasia are also easily obtained from aquacultured corals that are grown in facilities that have not started using Berghia for Aiptasia control.

Berghia are the only absolute natural Aiptasia control that can get down under, in holes and cracks and specifically remove the Aiptasia anemones including all of the pedal lacerates and tiny Aiptasia that are the result of spawning in the reef. There is no fish or shrimp that can get all those tiny Aiptasia beginnings.

Berghia may be combined with an Aiptasia eating fish to naturally control Aiptasia but the nudibranch is effective without any help when given the time. If a fish is used, the fish will keep some of the anemones that can be seen from growing on the top side of rocks and the Berghia nudibranch will remove the rest of the Aiptasia from the top, between coral colonies and from down under. It is the down under part we don't see that is the most important for a complete and final solution.

It is possible to control Aiptasia species anemones such as Aiptasia mutabilis, Aiptasia pallida [Dysactis pallida], Aiptasia pulchella, Aiptasia californica with the Berghia nudibranch (occassionally misspelled as Bergia, a plant taxonomy) also known as Aeolidiella stephanieae, that is tank bred here at INSTAR. Learn more about Aiptasia (sometimes misspelled as aptasia), the dreaded Glass Anemone, to insure success in removing it from your aquarium while still maintaining healthy live rocks, viable live sand and stable system parameters.

These are by common name Berghia verruccicornis nudibranchs, scientific name Aeolidiella stephanieae, young adults, most with eggs, 10 millimeters at least while not sleeping and while expanded, hunting. These only eat Aiptasia sp. anemones to clean a tank. They may expand and contract at different times of the day and according to shipping, feedings and while carrying eggs at various incubation stages during their 3 day egg development cycle. These are young adults and will grow more in peoples tanks. This is the easy age to handle and ship. Each shipment will come accompanied by a certified health certificate with the Texas stamp on it and boxes are labeled with Aquacultured Ornamental Fish labeling unless otherwise instructed.

i have read these are absolutely powerful and extremely reef safe, just put in and your aiptisias will be gone, in fact the only problem is that once the aiptisias are gone, the berghia will start to die from lack of food, so it would be best then to trade it to another person to use. A good method to use is to take out your LR with the aiptisia and put it in a tank with the nudis, like that wont have trouble finding them next time, and its easy to pass the berghia to another person too!

Not true. they will appear during the day looking for aips if there aint got aips. Otherwise they will only come out at night to feast on aips. No aips , they will starve to death. No eat zoas. My shipment from US coming in soon. Delayed due to extreme cold weather.

Nudis are mostly mono eaters and each species eat 1 type of food. As for this nudi, they only eat aiptasia. Once the aiptasia gone, the nudi will die of starvation. They will not eat zoa, monti or what so ever.

True, if not those people with nudis on their zoas and montis should be happy as they will realize their aiptasia getting eaten as well.
