I have heard reefers complaining that their needle wheel pump can get noisy after some time. Although i am not so fussy about a bit of noise... Only problem is their pump...which i suggest you get brands like ehiem and aquabee or rio... wat u pay is wat u get...all i can say is this...if you save up a bit more...u can get better ones like bubble magus or hydor... and if dun intend to keep SPS..then dymax is fine... its the design of the protein skimmer and its trademark that makes them expensive. I had a friend using this model and easily collected 1 liter for 2-3 days and he has 20 over angels in his tank.

Anybody whos using reef octopus having this problem.. Depends also whether you are skimming wet or dry by adjusting yr air intake. More air intake, more wet skimmate. Usually, wet skimmate will see more bubbles accumulating on the neck of the skimmer.
SRC Member sanjaypills55 Posted April 8, 2009 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 8, 2009 Depends also whether you are skimming wet or dry by adjusting yr air intake. More air intake, more wet skimmate. Usually, wet skimmate will see more bubbles accumulating on the neck of the skimmer. The DNW-110 model of Reef octopus doesn't have any air in-take adjustment!! So only adjustment i can do is increase or decrease the water level on the skimmer. Water level is now kept at a good height so that i can try getting as wet skimming as possible, but not too high to overflow, but still not enough wet skim mates. How about ppl using Reef octopus.. anybody with experience?
