Hi guys,

i am busy setting up my first 90g reef tank. Since i have an electrical background I would like very much to protect myself against equipment failure and therefore possible electrocution.

A ground fault circuit protector is such a device that can save your live for only 25-30 dollars. However i am stunned that a few people know this. So far I have not found a store in my neighbourhood who has it. A little did not even know what I was talking about.

Any of you has such a device and where could I get one?

I am not talking about a probe which is meant for strays. This does not protect you from electrocution!

You can buy the type that plug into a socket from Homely Hardware in the Ubi industrial area.

If I remember correctly the PDL ELimit 1951 that I bought is around $40.00, its Rated for a maximum of 3000W.

Or if you're handy with wiring, you can stop by Sim Lim Tower or Mustafa Centre (They carry ABB and Merlin Gerin.) in the Electronics area in the basement and get a set of Household circuit breakers and mount it onto a wooden board.

Not sure about others, but for me when I upgraded my tank, I contracted a separate PUB approved electrician to calculate the load, install more sockets and a ground fault circuit protector.

In the end, I was told that HDB already have a ground fault circuit protector installed in our circuit breaker. He however calculated and increase the loading of the supply to my tank area.

hi. what is the cost of getting him to increase the loading to your tank area?

I am just an average FR (fish reefing) writer. If you like my FRs, please upz my points.

He charges by the distance from your mains plus the cost of raw materials... cannot remember how much I spend liao but definitely not more than 300.

      It's a very sad sale for me. So I resumed this hobby after several years if hiatus and enjoyed it for about a year. However, my work got too busy and while I went for a long business trip, I left it to my housemate to take care, which turned out a disaster and tank was in a MESS after coming home. My self neglection of skipping WC and some equipment failure during my trip, which my housemate had no idea how to deal with causing a minor crash. I cleaned the algae for now and removed everything except bubble algae. Just as I was about to rebuild it, I got another long business trip from 1st may, and I decided that I can't maintain this hobby in the current situation. The photos are taken today. The condition of the coral is not the best, but ain't the worst. I don't have time to deal with each one individually, so I'm looking for someone who will buy them all together.
